Fitting Roof Bars

Just got a set of roof bars off Dave on here and before I go fitting them I just want to check what is the correct position to fit them in and any tips before I start?
I'm aiming on fitting them then taking the car to a trimmers and getting a hood made to fit eventually.
I've found this pic on here from Cerberus, is this correct?

That is what is now my car... and so now your roof bars.
So, erm, that photo demonstrates about the extent of my knowledge.

Ah!
Well actually I am going to be selling the hood on too, but was hanging on to it for now in case it makes a useful template for a half hood. I will also need to reproduce the hood header rail at some point.

Excellent, thanks for the replies chaps. The incredible history of roof bars
So basically I need to fit the rails so the fold behind the roll bar.
Dave, if you're looking to sell the hood eventually, how soon might eventually be? And what sort of price? Feel free to drop me a PM. Is it the same dark red one Mat shows in his pics? Would you be selling the header (windscreen) rail too at the same time?
Mat, do you have a side pic of yours with the hood up? Never considered red always thought I'd be going black, but would like to see what a red car looks like with a red hood.
