After my track day excitment at Castle Combe. i need a new front end & light covers.

Also does anyone know the correct chassis dimentions for the front end, because 1 wheel doesnt look right & the wishbone/rocker arm look straight.

Thanks

Oh dear Kev ' , sorry to hear that . Can the body be repaired from behind then filled from the front or is there no shape left to follow :?:
Chassis wise , first measure whether the front wheels are equally in line with the rears . I could do a few checks around the front chassis with the tape and let you know.
What happened :?:

I think I can repair the body after a fashion. 1 light cover shattered, so thats no good.

After my off at Wiscombe in the summer I had the top rocker arms strengthened. I think this may of twisted the top rail or bracket. to make the wheel camber in a fair bit.
No other damage done. The car still drives (around the paddock) OK.

I went into the tyre wall almost head on. I discovered I had no brakes & took action to avoid a Lotus I was catching all of a sudden when I should have been slowering fast for a 90deg bend. As you know the only run off at Castle Combe is on the inside.

I noticed once Id been recovered that the nearside front wheel hub had an amount of play. On exiting the previous corner I ran that wheel over the rumble strip. I wonder if this pushed the pads back.

Pushing pads sounds likely . Never tracked at Combe myself , just called in there when still in build mode for some parts at Merlin . I'll do some measuring today and check my spare poly covers --- I've got two for one side as opposed to a pair originally bought from Tim  Not sure whether drivers or passengers side though :?:

OK Kev , not sure which measurements you specifically wanted but the following will enable you to check for any twist going on . I'd also put your torch along each 25 mm rail from front to bulkhead in case any kinks or cracks have appeared.
Left --- 733mm's from rear tower edge to steel bulkhead.
Right --- 552mm's from rear tower edge to front of pedal box.

Rockers --- 628mm's between rear rocker bolt centres.

Shocks --- 318mm's between top front facing bolt centres.

If you welded a crosstube along the length of the rockers , it's entirely possible that the angle of the rockers has changed ie lowered the car/ wheels to body clearance plus obviously more camber

Hope this helps you decide what's happened :)

Rob.

Would love a light cover, as its the passenger side thats broken.

Thanks for the measurements. It will be a couple of weeks (maybe christmas) before i get to start on anything Stylus wise.

George, thanks for the link. I knew there was a thread covering this, but hadnt got round to searching. just took the easy route & posted my requirements. If Rob is happy for me to have one of his Im sorted. But it highlights the fact that I should perhaps have some spares.

Cheers again for the help.

No bother it was only that I got some of them myself that I remembered. Hope the rest of the damage it not to bad and easily fixable.
