Considering my options for a Zetec inlet manifold – seem to be a lot of Rover inlet manifolds around at the moment with the adaptor plates or fitting to the Zetec head. Has anyone tried this approach before – any ideas if the rover manifold fits under the Stylus bonnet without fouling anywhere?

I have no clue regarding ROVER manifolds However , the pipe diameter should be 1 7/8ths and primary lengths 28 to 32 ins(all MUST be equal & 4 into 1) These are Zetec specific parameters or power/torque will be wasted
Any old pipe will take the smoke away but efficiency's another matter.

I too have no idea on the Rover inlet either, not something I've heard about on the multitude of forums I read.

Here's an alternitive option to throttle bodies or bike carbs for inlet though:

That would logically give prodigeous torque especially with 4 extra injectors in there

Hi Andy,

The good news is I know about this and it's the Rover Turbo manifold you want as it has the same port spacings as a zetec head.

The bad news is, as I found out , that it won't fit unless you put a bump in your bonnet. If you're prepared to do this, I have one sitting in the garage.

The option I'm doing is the ST170 manifold with GSXR750 bike throttle bodies. If you want more info, give me a shout.

I think it depends what your after. If your not interested in big power/running a big cam, then a plenum and single throttle body will probably yield average power with a good spread of torque. The bike throttle root (regardless of manifold) will generally yield more power, allow the use of big cams and have better throttle response, but low down torque may be reduced. Dave Walker of Emerald doesn't like bike tbs as the angle of the butterfly is generally steeper meaning that opening is less subtle leading to drive line shunt at low speeds. (No problem...just keep your foot nailed to the floor

If your budget will stretch then go for the Jenveys etc, they will always be the best option. If not, bung in one of the options above as it's bound to be better than Webers (even with the issues mentioned), then upgrade later.
