Wheel Studs
Wheel Studs
I'm looking to put longer studs on before my 1st attempt on a track so I ordered what I thought was correct.
12x1.5 Standard +13mm (47mm) Ford ones from here:
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performan ... wheel-stud
They turned up, took my old studs out. Popped in a new one and the splines on the new ones was too small.
New splines dia 13.2mm
Original spline dia 13.8mm
Hole dia approx 13.5mm
From a bit of a search all replacement ones for the Escort MK2 are 13.1mm spline dia.
Any clues or pointers for what I might need as I'm a little stumped?

Re: Wheel Studs
rally design pt no SS36 fit fine
SSC Sylus 2.0 Dunnell Black Top Zetec weber alpha / DTA + cams, 236@fly. (aka NORMA)
Re: Wheel Studs
Cheers, I did look at them but the extortionate £9.50 delivery put me off. Also they dont specify the spline diameter so will have to wait till the morning to give them a call and see as there's no email to contact them.

Re: Wheel Studs
Just looked at what I ordered and they have the same SS36 part number as the rally design ones, so I doubt they will fit. And looking at the web the SS36 are 13.1mm splines
There are some SS38 ones with a 14.3 diameter spline. But my hole is only 13.5mm. Would these fit?
Might just end up fitting the old ones back in a living with the shorter stud.

Re: Wheel Studs
I would ring Rally Design & ask them, they are very knowledgable on Escort parts.
IIRC they are the Grayson parts wholesale importer & sell them on to the like of Demon Tweeks.
Hubs wise there's 3 types I think - Early Escort Saloon/Est/Van (MK1) imperial, later (MK2) metric, & then the RS1800/RS2000 which were bigger all round.

Re: Wheel Studs
Have you got 8 inch drums or 9 inch ------ I did the same as you but told them they were for a 9 inch drum axle and they fitted perfectly/after some pretty good wallops I think the 9's were from the RS models.
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Re: Wheel Studs
I've not even touched the rear yets. Just started on the front replacement. The rears are 8" drums. And the donar car was a 1300 Mk2 and has the metric thread.
As I see it I have 2 options:
Refit original
or
Order and fit the 14.3mm splines and hope they pull into the 13.5mm holes.
So will the splines squash up to 0.5mm while fitting? Guess there's only one way to find out.....
