HARDTOP

Post by stylussprinter »

There's been much discussion regarding Hardtops for the Stylus over many years , so I thought I'd put a photo up here of SSC Tim's design , some 7 or 8 years back . It was for an RT as can be seen in the pic , which helps keep it in proportion to the car ---- the RT having a wider back end stops it looking too big , as it might have done on a Classic

I thought it looked great at the time but didn't consider ordering one due to -- 1)weight-- 2)rollbar height --3)cost . The standard rollbar was originally totally useless safety wise but of course easily went under a soft top or this hardtop .

That looks excellent, though it looks like it would work best as a permanent faired in coupe lid than a removable top?

If my Stylus was only ever a road car then I wouldn't hesitate --- I think it's quite stunning 8)

Always did like that mini-TVR look, not sure if a mold was ever made though ?
And yeh, this should have been the basis for a bonded on closed car, dressed up interior option.....

I seem to remember SSC having a PR man , albeit part time :?: He had this red RT and it was modelled on that . He was supposed to get SSC into the limelight , I'm sure I met him at some point :?
