Toyota 4age Oil Temp Sender

Post by Pete&Matt »

I have just posted the below on the locost builders site as there are only a few here who run Toyota engines!

Hi All

I am struggling to find a position to screw my oil temperature sender into on the block of my phase 1 toyota 4age engine.

I have removed the factory oil filter sandwich plate for the factory oil cooler, not that it had a hole for a sensor in the first place. However i do not really want a sandwich plate on there anyway!

I am going to be running a remote hose to the oil pressure gauge. I could put a T in this, however the oil in the line will remain stationary most of the time and would take a long time for the heat of the oil to flow through via convection etc.

What have others done on their 4age engines for oil temp pickup? Do not like the sound of the sump plug style gauges!!

Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance.

I have found some suitable adapters now to sort it. I shall take the feed from the oil pressure drilling which comes off the pump anyway and put a T piece in. The temp sensor shall then be inline with the direct flow from the pump anyway. The oil pressure shall then be remotely mounted due to space and come off the non inline port of the T piece as it is pressure only. I'm sure all will be fine, but is the only way i can see of doing it!

Clutch is all in and just awaiting the correct spacer now then the engine can go in the car and be fired. Have cranked it on the floor to ensure i have oil pressure and all feeds are fine, which they are!

happy days!
