Roll on the summer............

Managed to get the Stylus up and running yesterday after its enforced winter ‘hibernation’.

Have learnt that the best way to get her going is to pour some fresh petrol into the top of the twin Webbers and make sure the battery is fully charged before attempting to start her up (and a squirt of oil down the bores).

Took her for a spin around the local streets, ran really well with no problems once warmed up. Then the heavens opened and the car cover had to go back on – hopefully this wet spell will clear and I’ll be able to use her a bit more soon – I never got around to fully fitting the soft top!

Just booked mine in for an MOT and some bits and bobs that are easier on a proper lift on "any dry day" next week

Poor girl needs some love after last autumn/winter of being a bit ignored. Glorious sunshine outside today - long may it continue!

If you're never going to fit it then I know someone that is in desperate need of a roof for his stylus :)

What's this, a hood for sale? Me me me!
Well, I made myself some hoops and Ivan made me a screen rail so really I just need to pay a trimmer to take care of the rest - and there are plenty of sailmakers around here.

Ivan at a company called Fibretech - info on the thread here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1132
He made me a rail for around £70 I think it was. Decent quality work and a nice chap to deal with.

I made the two hoops to support the hood myself as I had a pipe bender and some steel tube handy - complete guesswork as to the sizes but bent them to where I knew the mounting points would be and so they'd clear the roll bar. Whoever makes the hood is going to have to do it just by measuring up on the car anyway. Just need to make up some little brackets to bolt them to the body.

EDIT: Here's a video showing the rail in more detail - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGZtPJmMxLs

Well, it's been a bit of a wait but the garage has taken care of all those jobs I set them with the exception of freeing off the rear damper adjustment knobs - didn't really expect them to succeed in that as I've read that once they're seized, they're seized.

MOT'd and I'll wander down the post office tomorrow to get some tax then it's putting some miles on to reacquaint myself before round 2 of the IOWCC championship on Sunday!
