Light Clusters

Hi All,
Had a rather interesting turn of events after Tim wisely pointed out that the SVA requirement for rear fog lights needs to be 100mm away from the brake light. He had also had issues a few years ago trying to fit production car light clusters which failed SVA. This obviously means that my current efforts to fit the light clusters from the BMW would fall foul of the SVA due to the proximity of the fog light to the brake (About 30mm!!) Having come up with the plan B of masking out the fog light and fitting a stand alone unit to pass SVA (Apparantly this wuld be acceptable) I decided to try and talk to someone inthe know to explain why production cars can get away withit and not kit cars. The upshot is that they had recently added a clause that states provided the light cluster has not been modified (ie changing a brake light to become a fog light!) then it would be deamed acceptable. The remainder of the issues still need to be adhered to (things like the fog light beam must be parallel to the ground, etc etc)
Thought I would pass the info on an as it may affect some of you out there. And i know for me it comes a s a huge relief as I really like the lights I am fitting!!
Cheers
Neil
