My present helmet that I have for my bike is a full face job, while it will do for track days it's not snell rated, as I hope to do the odd sprint next year a new lid will be needed, I just want to check that the type I want will be ok. The type I want is the touring car style, full face but with a peak and no visor . Would this be deemed legal?

Not for an open car , has to be full face and next year the MSA is demanding we use HANS devices , so make sure you buy a helmet with manufacturers HANS posts fitted plus their OFFICIAL label. I just bought a new helmet last season so need another helmet to HANS spec plus a HANS device ------ they could have warned us that was coming up soon --- barstools :x
Need to contact them too about their plans for complete cage even in roadgoing classes 2016/17 :?:

Thanks for the info, if the MSA go for a full cage for road going cars, I won't bother with the sprints etc, I got the car for mainly road/ trackdays, the full cage would mean I couldn't have the roof plus getting in and out would be a mare, with my back problems I would spend more time at the physio then driving.

As Rob said - full face. But shouldnt need Hans in roadgoing classes, as you could just have a standard seat belt. I believe a full harness is required for Hans
