Spend yesterday taking head off to sort valve seats. All have been recut, lapped in and set correctly.

however, on putting it all back together its not running as it did before:
1. revs dont drop off immediately when throttle is lifted
2. its down on power
3. slight misfire at tick over- could be pre ignition not sure.

spec is as follows standard 2.0 pinto on zzr1200 carbs with alpha ecu (yet to be full calibrated but was working near perfect).

I'm wondering if I might have the cam timing out by a tooth, although it looks right, its very hard to see the crank timing due to the trigger disk for the ecu
I've checked for manifold leak by spraying joint with WD40 but revs didn't increase, I have a spare gasket so will probably fit anyway as it’s a quick job any other suggestions greatly appreciated.

cheers

Alex

Have you checked to make sure that the throttles are closing right off and that there is nothing in the throttle pedal/cable/mech. that is binding enough to stop the throttle closing properly

afternoon

I'm pretty confident that the linkages working smoothly and fully closing as it was my first suspicion, although it wouldn't explain the other symptoms.

It's another item to add to the check list which currently stands at; timing between crank and cam, inlet gasket, valve clearances + throttle linkage

Sounds like timing :? WD40 is not the best to check for leaks, use easy start,

Good luck, Dave

I'd love to but i've got tickets for the bristol bath match, if it had been any other clash i'd have passed them on to a mate. I'm hoping Rob will let us know when he has another sprint on as i'm keen to see him and his motor in action.

I notice you are also bristol based, if you'd like to catch up for a blast or have a nose around my car let me know.
