Going to have the screen fitted over xmas hopefully.

What trim piece is required round the screen after it is bonded in?

Can anyone recommend any good mobile screen fitters around Southampton area?

Thanks

Matt

Used to be 2x the old smiley face Ford Transit rubber seal, with the front one chopped back to suit.
Genuine Ford ones were better as the rubber was softer :-)

These days, bond direct to the frame (after painting it with matt black prep) & then stick the rubber into the glass edge groove.

Do I paint the screen with matt black prep? If so, is it a specific grade of paint for glass?

I assume it is still the transit rubber that is stuck to the outside of the screen?

Prep as per.... (the matt black bit)
http://3mcollision.com/3m-single-step-p ... 30-ml.html

& bond with

or simialr products from other manufacturers

the screen wont fall out after that.... the rest is just cosmetic finishing...

you can either just lolly stick or wet finger more sealer over the glass edge to stop it chipping (the modern way), or while its still tacky bond on top a rubber strip all the way round.
I used a transit one with the back half trimmed off - ie split down the londitudinal groove all the way round (where the glass would sit).

I was thinking of getting a screen fitter to do it, rather than attempt it myself. The last time I did a side screen it leaked like a sieve and ended up having it taken out and re-done again!

Had some quotes back, needless to say im doing it myself!

I can get the primer and adhesive from car builder solutions as a kit.

Any idea of where to get the trim from? The ones on ebay are at £200+!! Google is not really brining much up either. Do you know what mk transit it is from? Would prefer the trim to running adhesive around the outside as it will hide the mess i am likely to make!

I assume its best to key the paint on the frame that the screen goes into?

Thanks
