lambo doors mod

Has anyone ever tried to modify the doors to lift vertically a la lamborghini?
I'm part-way through doing so, with very positive results so far, and when I can upload some pics I'll do so.
What I'm interested in is any previous experience anyone may have had, or seen or thought of.
I'm also looking for a decent program to model said doors on, both static and dynamically, any ideas?
Cheers aye,
Mark

you can get the hinges to convery the Z3 and others, I've seen them on ebay previously. they come with hydraulic rams which will be too powerful for glass fibre doors!

you can buy tunable gas struts from RS I'm sure - maybe a combination of a hinge and a different strut would work.

Well, I can finally get some phots onto the net about my door project. Still some minor and one or two major teething problems regarding piston strength, but so far nothing pushing itself through the fibreglass. the basic premise is that the door pops open sideways to clear the A-pillar (including window), then rises vertically.
Note the hinge arrangement to move the horizontal axis sufficiently high so as not to block the door, but the rather poor development process has left the hinges on the vertical axis relatively low. The problem now is the leverage the strut is applying to these hinges, is making the door slightly wobbly
when open. At this point there doesn't seem to be much loss of stability to the door when closed.
Current speed-bumps on the road to progress include the limiting stop, and a mechanism to damp the horizontal movement of the door. Some sort of guiding rail is currently the best candidate for eliminating both these problems.
However, I am open to greater engineering experience (ie advice) from here on in, or any particular brainstorms on the basis that many hands might make light work

very common mod in Asia you can buy kits for most cars, never looked at it myself, but next time in the motor factors, I'll price the kits, I have an idea they are around 50 pound.
