Hummm,

Was trying to keep it quiet. I havent seen the entry so wasnt sure if I was in.

The car is not sorted yet, I took the gamble and entered but am running out of time to sort.
I have entred the road class but may have to move (no tax - or SVA). But I'll turn up anyway.

Hi

Sorry I missed you Andy.

Spent Friday night getting ready with some upgrades. Changed springs from PP 180f 160r set up to 240F 180r. Did not have time to sort out ride heights etc so just put them in with the idea of sorting them out at Goodwood.

I had some trouble getting though scrutineering, the car was too noisy - was 110dB ? needed to be 105. With a little help from the sound check personnel we managed to agree on 105 by using less revs, after all it is an engine from a Mondeo so cant be very sporty.

I went out for my practice time & car was not running smoothly in the mid to high rev range. Also I didnt set up the suspension, but this set up was a world better than the original. Anyway you do 2 laps in the practice session. I should have perhaps stopped after the 1st lap as the car wasn’t running smoothly, but carried on. Got to the furthest part of the circuit and the engine died. As I was next to a marshals post & near an exit to the service road they decided to push me off the track and not get a tow back to the pits. Well it saved them time but I was 3/4 of a mile from the pits !

So after spending the rest of the time walking backwards & forwards (1.8 mile round trip) with tools, laptop etc. After 2 of these walks it was lunchtime & I could pick the car up on the trailer so got to the pits as dinner was nearly over.

Day did not go to plan but was enjoyable even so. I had a lot of encouragement from marshals, competitors & visitors. I eventually got the car running and went out for a run but that ended around the 1st corner. This time I was towed back.

I will post my running troubles on the engine forum.

Met a fellow Stylus owner, did not get his name but he had ordered the original kit from PP. This apparently was collected but without inner door skins. The chap has not finished the car & thought Stylus had gone out of business. I assured him all was well & he should contact Tim.

My next run will be the August track day, so I hope to be running properly and look forward to meeting everyone.

Kev

maybe ?

Kev' , just a rather obvious point but did you change plugs :?: I was up at Curborough and had a similar running problem -- looked at the plugs which looked perfect -- farted around checking fueling / electrics etc . A competitor said he had a set of new Zetec plugs if it was that so I tried them anyway thinking I'll be polite ---------- BINGO , no engine prob's  so you can't tell by looking
Rob(well just a thought)
