Front Bottom ball joints- what are the from????

Just been looking at my camber and messing with the ball joint, but I know I've got the wrong ones, while they thread in and out of the bottom arm easily they are lose!!! I would guess that I have a 1/2 thread going into a 12mm thread (cant be safe).

What should they be from?

THanks

Alex

I've found the part numbers on another thread- however, can anyone confirm if the correct ones are 12mm?

Try this http://www.clubstylus.be/phpBB2/viewtop ... all+joints

also if you use search and type in ball joint there are two topics this is the first one actually there are three now

Got back, jacked the car up noticed that one of them seemed to move!!! I'm wondering if the thread in the bottom arm has been killed due to the locking nut working lose or that I've had the wrong ones fitted all along, tomorrow will tell, I'm off for beer and club :D

They are SHERPA and if you had the kit from Tim they would automatically be those. Info is on the main website. When you've sorted them put some tipex across the nut/wishbone then it's easy to check. I look at all my fixings before putting on the trailer.

Front wide track conversion

Does anyone know the going rate for the front wide track conversion?

Just to confirm that it increases the track by 50mm in total rather than each side.

Cheers

I have a cunning plan..... my front and rear wheels have a different offset by approx 10mm, if I move the front ones to the rear they really fill the arches but don't rub, this then leaves the front ones inboard too much- I'm yet to measure it all up exactly but new front wishbones will probably only widen the track by 30mm.

Hmm, Interesting.

I have a similar problem, the front and rear wheels are the same offset, but the disk brake conversion adds about 8mm to each side at the rear and to get the front wheels to fill the arches I had to use 19mm wheel spacers which are not ideal.

I think this was something to do with the Sierra uprights fitted to a car designed for Escort one's, When I built the car I thought this was a little strange

Does this "wide track kit" comprise upper and lower arms or just upper ones ? - the lower ball joints are screwed right in against the locknuts so with longer top arms at least I would have scope for camber adjustment !

the kit is supposed to consist of upper and lower arms, however, depending on your mearsurements just top ones might do it.

Although if your car was designed for escort uprights I'd be inclined to replace the lot as the two hubs will have been designed to pivot differently, not only will this effect your caster and camber it will also change your akerman angle. Best advice would be to speak to Tim.

Tim doesn't use Seira uprights now so they'll be made to suit Escort or a lightweight option.
