Dash & Silencer

Does anyone know if there is a standard template dash on the market that fits well in the Stylus?
Also is the "fury type" silencer from Car Builder Solutions the same as Tim supplies?
Having been trying to get hold of Tim for 2 weeks now and given up! I like the dash he does, and know it fits well etc, but we want to get on with our build and are being held up by not getting hold of bits!
Cheers
Matt

SILENSER
That depends entirely on what engine you fit / manifold you fit and therefore what primary lengths/diam' --- leading to
size collector = through pipe
My advice would be to fit the longest/biggest diameter silenser that will go in without touching the f/glass by 10mm minimum. Also if you can afford it have it repackable , it will save you money in the long run plus be better if you want to track it as the DB's limit is forever being lowered
DASHBOARD
Don't know whether the Fury is fundamentally the same dimensions behind the screen BUT in theory it may well be because FURY & STYLUS both use the Elan screen . It's the top you really need I presume then the front is easily made from carbon fibre or look a like OR alloy covered with 'stick 'on carbon layer etc.
If you're really stuffed , I could take mine off and try to get some made

The Car Builders Solution silencer is a 5" diameter item. Repackable too and all in stainless. Its mainly going to be for road use, so need to be carefull on the DB's! We are going to get a mainfiold made for it, as all enquires have lead to no where. Its the Toyota 4age 1600 lump we are running. I will put a flexi joint in line too, but the manifold will mate up where ever it ends up! Where did your silencer come from?
I might try Fisher Fury and see what dashes they do, i expect they are similar. Dont want to put you to the agro of taking all of yours out! Would like a carbon effect one anyway! Will see what i can find out!
cheers for your help as always!

just spoken to Fisher Cars
They can do a 2 piece dash for £36! or a GRP moulded type for £80
they reakon that it should fit too. All their dashes have to be fitted to each car anyway, so thats even better.
They can do a silencer for £137. same as what Car Builder Solutions do!
will give it to the end of the week for Tim to get in contact, or they get our business!

My silenser is SBD's silenser from their dyno ' as they were upping the power they needed to test so went to a 7 inch item. Mine is 6 inches x 24 inches with a 2.75 inch internal diameter through pipe and 3 inch exit . Don't think you'll need more than 2 inch through pipe , possibly 2.25 inch if you intend upping power to 160 or more bhp. 200bhp is around the max for the 4age. When you pack the silenser use just a very thin layer of stainless wire wool then BASALT packing but only just gently prodded with a bit of dowling to make it firm NOT tight . This material enabled me to use my existing silenser rather than a new 7 inch to cope with the latest power hike
Tested at 4800 rpm (3/4 of max = 6500 rpm
I lied
) it registered 98 db's
The ' e ' glass would never have got it to that --- more like 105 at best .
Regarding fixing to the chassis ---- bolt a nice alloy angle to the lower seat pan area (outside) then pop a rubber bobbin on top with your silenser bracket also on top of that . Mine's been mounted like that for 5 years competition and no other fixing apart from the manifold being bolted to the engine ------------ never broken ---- no problems
My dash top comes out in 5 minutes flat mate
so if you need to copy it
Rob.

I got my silencer from these chaps, apparently they made them for Tim, they certainly didn't need any dimension (width and length) just the bore (mines 2.5 inch and apparently good for <350bhp):

If you are after a flat carbon dash I'd get in contact with this guy

seems very competitively priced.

I have an SSC dash in stock not fitted to the car yet. I dont want to undermine Tims business, he needs our support by all accounts, but it would be relatively easy to trace or measure if this a way forward for you.
If the business is going up for sale, I hope Tim might offer it here first, maybe a co-operative of owners ? What are your thoughts ?
Steve.
