Help Network

All,

As SSC might aswell be long gone, the people who are currently building their cars no longer have the "factory help" now to fall back on when stuck.

When we were doing the flipfront we tried to get hold of Tim to no avail to answer a quick question we had before making the cut. As usuall this came to nothing.

I expect there are others in this situation too.

Therefore, how does making our own support network sound? What we can do is to have a list of phone numbers that is distributed via e-mail to keep it private, that we can call each other to try and get help when stuck. We can put on the list the stage people are at so you can filter out certain people. I am willing to do this and maintain a list for this.

Who would be willing to do this? I expect most calls will be during the weekend when most people are working on their cars.

Cheers

Matt

I've found this forum very helpfull. It's not that quick off course as a phonecall.

I have a memberlist in a database with a phonenumber column. Not that many have provided their phonenumber.

So I can quickly make this list. Everyone should already have my (from the newsletter) and Rob's number I think from the forum. And everyone is free to mail me their number for this initiative.

the problem with posting on the forum is that it takes a while for people to reply and when your in the middle of doing somthing its a but frustrating!

I’m quite happy to join a self help network too – though to be honest its self interest rather than selfless as at the moment I’m still building and more likely to need help than be able to offer it but I’ll willingly help where I can. I try and keep it a bit quite as it’s almost as bad as admitting you’re a doctor but I am or at least was a qualified mechanic with experience in racing (FF and F3) plus a bit of rallying and sprinting and nowadays I’m an automotive design engineer though I currently do injection moulded plastics rather than anything useful or interesting.

Werner I’ll PM you my numbers.

Cheers

Werner,

are you going to do this then, or do you want me to do it?

Matt, I just think it is easier for me to do it as i already have a memberlist in a database with a lot of data. I also have a mailinglist from this database for distribution, I won't be distributing the list though, but will comment it in a next newsletter so people can ask me to send it. This way it doesn't end up in a wrong place

In that newsletter I will also ask all people to give me their phonenumber and if it's ok for distibution or not and what state their car is in.

This also sounds like a good idea to me.

I have solved most of my build problems now i hope by acquiring another kit that is broadly complete to reverse engineer and make mould etc from. If your missing a bit and don't mind a bit of messing about i'm quite happy to get things copied and take photos. Watch this space.....
