Dear All
Can any one please tell me what the tracking should be set to for my stylus? Also the steering rack needs replacing - I am I right in thinking this is from a MK2 Escort? If so any thoughts on a standard rack v a fast rack?
Many thanks

Tracking is down to preference.
I found dead ahead was brilliant for turn in response but poor for high speed stability.
The more toe in you put on, the more vague the turn in becomes.
I settled on one turn in of steering knuckle each side....
As for rack - mkII escort - cant advise tho as i only have standard rack whick is fine.
you sure rack is knackered?
Mine had loads of play in it which I removed by removing the slack in a ball joint, I had to re-drill the joint inside the rack (it was 7 years ago know so cant remember any more than that!)

I run mine at 0.5 degree toe in. I now use a 2.4 turn rack (which i like) as i got fed up with the 15 turn lock to lock of the standard rack(3.8 actually) although some recomend 2.9 turn, and its a lot cheaper.

a fast rack is more heavy and wont self centre as easily as a standard rack.
if you go to
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk or .com
they do a 2.9 turn rack, which we got and is nice n cheap! its brand new, non exchange. £59.50
