Hi, does anyone know where to get a replacement lower steering column bush for the Stylus ( SSC modified Escort MK11 item). It is the plastic internal one, I have searched everywhere without any luck, perhaps a one from a later Ford model will fit? If not I was thinking about having one turned down at a machine shop from a plastic block. Has anyone got any other suggestions?
Regards
Phil.

I used a poly bush drilled out that I had hanging around.

did you have any luck with this as i melted mine last night while welding a bracket to the column!
Were all the columns MK11 escort? I have MK11 escort axle and front hubs.and its definately not a sierra.

Not a good idea
it's very thin . If it's got to be fixed to the pedal box or whatever then clamping's a better bet
Any replacement can be made from poly water pipe , agricultural grade . It's a little thinner and easier to rasp away
Pretty sure you'll never find FORD correct replacement.
Sierra steering column will only be on sierra upright/hubbed cars I would think. This donor was not used for very long due to weight and lousey geometry. Tim had recently used classic mini rack and column which is lighter than Ford Escort but few will have that combination

Werner,
could you please measure you column forr me?, I need the length from the end where the wheel fits to the first knuck joint.
If its the same as the escort and will connect to my lower existing part, i will fit a sierra one as I have the stalk assembly and surround for a sierra so would make life much easier in the long run. I jkust need it to round the turbo, which at the moment, it doesnt

well, i would like to measure but my original fixed column has a welded boss on for a detacheable steering wheel and therefore it will be different from a original column. The other column i have is a extendible one, so no good either i guess.

After research I bought a 500mm length of nylon black rod 30mm dia part no nybkr03005 from directplasticsonline.co.uk, measured up the internal and external measurements with a digital vernier then took it to a local machine shop who turned me up some bushes for a few pounds.
Ive got spares for the future plus some left over material.
