I am looking into dry sumping the rotary in the kit kit car so i can get it really low in the car, I dont have to but i would be good. I havent got a clue how to do it, does anyone have any experience of doing it?
Pip mentioned a kit he sells which the pump alone is £700 which is too expensive. There are cheaper pumps available. How many sections do they need?, Pip says his one is 3 pumps.
any advice would be great

Get a burton power catalog, they're free and have a nice explanation of the dry sump principle. But what I understand from it is that a 2 stage scavenge pump has 2 scavenge chambers and the engine uses the original oil pump for pressure. A 3 stage scavenge pump still has 2 scavenge chambers, but has a pressure chaber and can replace the original oil pump of the engine.
There's also 4 stage scavenge pumps, it all just depends how much places need scavenging. As your engine has a Turbo, you'll need a 3 stage one, 1 scavenge from sump, 1 from turbo and one pressure.
This is what I understand from the burton catalogue. Might have it completely wrong though. No engine expert here, but rather IT expert
Pricewise, 700£ for the pump alone sounds like a rip-off. As burton is not cheap (even far from) most expensive full dry sump system in there is 880£, this includes sump, pump and all needed piping and parts. except for the 1051£ cosworth duratec dry sump system wich has the pump and driving mechanism inside the dry sump. So no external parts except from the oil tank.

Thanks for the info, i'll have a look in the catalog. 2 coincidences: My mate had a brand new Duratec one in a box that i was looking at tonight. I was asking him as he races a hot hatch series and is building a duratec fiesta. Its a nice bit of kit but the sump is still about 3 inches deep. The mazda one is only 4 inches in stock form. Nice with the built in pump though.
Burton are just down the road from me, I pass them going home from work and i get a trade discount in there as i have been going there for years.
