Rushmoor was great and served to enthuse me again after 2 years of very little competition , so have selected 9 out of the total of 38 events . Obviously a championship win can't come from my selection but I feel the urge to compete again.
In date order 3 from the sprint championship - 5 from the sprint challenge plus 1 from the hillclimb championship.
30th March Rushmoor 1st in class
26th April Goodwood 1st in class & new PB but no opposition
3rd May Curborough . No time recorded - half shaft broke after start
10th May Goodwood 2nd in class
7th June Abingdon . 34th overall/180 entries & 10th in class of 14 entries.
28th June Goodwood . 1st in class & 12th overall - new PB for 2 lapper 187.6 sec's
20th July Gurston Down Hillclimb Cancelled / car damage
3rd August Hethel (Lotus test track) DITTO
Maybe Brighton Speed trials - September
MAYBE READY(too late now for an entry
)
5th October Eelmoor -- Entry paid for this
(should have stayed at home and lost the 75 quid , it would have been cheaper
) Lots of damage ------ AGAIN

Just had the entry list for 26th Goodwood and the 245bhp Radical that I beat last year seems to have been put into a dedicated class with other bike powered / slicks / wings cars
So at the moment , unless there are some late entries , I'm isolated in a class of one
(previously we've all been lumped together in SPORTS LIBRE)
All I can do then is try to beat my personal best time from last year

Or beat the Radicals time...
"are you sure you're in my class, THAT just looks like a road car".

The entry list shows my class has 16 entries some being 6R4's , 2.3 Duratec Caterfields , SBD's 2lt Duratec 304bhp , a Darion or Davrion ? plus an extremely quick Striker weighing 385kgs BEC
There are 200 entries all told and two Sprint courses during the day so if it stays dry , some fun will be had

Probably one of these:

A kitcar rally car, so depending on engine it can be bloody fast.

Yep , I knew what they were , just couldn't recall the correct name
Their reputation is well known and it is Tim Duffey who has the SSC moulds and makes our body shells . I contacted him once to enquire whether or not he would make me some carbon fibre bits for the Stylus . Had no reply but did get a snotty phone call from Peter Powell

looks like you got your work cut out to get a pot this time , Colin Early's Darrian T9 has vx vauxhall 290 bhp , and Colin is Carole Torkington's brother , family connections to get an ex-SBD engine , which was in the black SBD westfield ( road going )Dick will be a good bet for class win , say hello for me Rob to the SBD guys hopfully see them soon when I get a passout
all the best for the weekend
cheers Andy

I'll write a report once the full results/times sheet's been posted to me but the day is so busy with 2 sprints/200 entries that I didn't get a results sheet(they were there but all gone when I wanted one
)
Suffice to say that I won nowt
The front brakes jammed solid again on my first run so the first morning sprint wasn't very successful for me. The afternoon ' faster course ' was great (brakes sorted
)
In 2004 on carb's I did a BENTLEY sprint of 54sec's from memory this time 53.03 . I did the ABINGDON sprint(fast course/long sweeping bends) at 57sec's in 2004 this time 47.89sec's . Can't be certain of accurate 2004 figures , it's memory only
My son tells me I was 34th from 200 entries and 10th in class of 16
Really not sure yet though . I was trading quickest run with the DARRION 300bhp SBD XE all day which surprised me . Just parts of a second on one run
Had a really good day though on a personal best basis

Rob, what have you done to fix them?
As per my post a while back I'm convinced the route of your problem is that they are not spaced correctly and require washers

(I did a long post on it ages ago)
I sorted all that after last years problem and 3 events without incident which is why it was so confusing. If you remember I reported stripping the complete pedal box and rebuilt it , washers , spaced etc etc .
The problem turned out to be that under the ' heat ' of competition braking , heal/toe etc the balance bar thread was moving but not enough for me to see it visually . I found out by winding it back 5 turns which gave me lousy braking but no jamming THEN back until good front braking was there ---- taped up both ends to stop movement ---------- bingo ------------ no more problems all day
