My 1st event in a new class !

Hi Guys ,
I've entered the STYLUS into class D9 which is sports libre . The event is at GOODWOOD on 1st July and run by the TUNBRIDGE WELLS MOTOR CLUB. It's a class of mostly high powered , light cars on slicks with no lights / windscreens / tax, insurance , mot etc . This year I've not made it road legal , saving £500 so it's the only available class . I'll report on the result after the event.
Probably got a good idea what the result might be against these specialist cars but it will give the STYLUS at outing at GOODWOOD which is my favourite track ---------------- SO scary !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rob.
Just had confirmation of my entry for the event / car number / class etc. The class I ran in last year has cars/drivers that I've previously beaten --- what a bummer , could have had a 1ST !
The class I'm in for this event has just two cars , me and a Radical SR4 450kg with 252bhp , slicks , wing , sequential box etc etc so it will be very hard to be 1st in this event !!!!!!!!!!
Should be fun trying though !

Thanks for the confidence boost Alec , I'll need it and it would be great to have a Stylus competitor with all these cateringvans and westies !. Andy your car looks as though you just finished it yesterday ! Still like those wheels !

So what's propelling your beastie then Alec ? Second hand 'jump jet' at a favourable price ?

i wish! that would be a bit different wouldn't it!
I've got a 1.8 zetec at the moment with weber twin 40 DCOE's. Its got the 2 litre cam shafts in it but apart from that pretty standard apart from the inlet and exhaust ports being tidied up slightly.
After finishing my car I will be building my own 2 litre Zetec turbo. I was thinking about a cozzie lump but thats been done too much and i'd like to build an engine myself. Plus if i put a cozzie engine in the exhaust will be on the wrong side as well as a few other problems.
Should be an exciting project and having the 1.8 to start will give me a bit of an idea as to how the car performs before I go mad and try a jet engine for size!!

Don't think anyone else has turbo'd the 2lt into a Stylus ----- that should give around 210 maybe 220 bhp and lots of torque ay ??
Watch your space with interest !

i think with a little bit of cash (or maybe a lot of cash) i should be able to push 300 bhp with a 2 litre. i'm not sure how reliable it would be though. i think 250 would be a nice figure to aim for.
i'll keep you posted on my progress! i'm trying to borrow a digi camera soon so i should have some pictures on the site in the near future.
hope you like my car. I do!!

As an alternative to turbo I believe there is an engine company in Salisbury that fits superchargers to Zetec's.

Autocraft in Salisbury. Pictures of a Supercharged Zetec engine can be found on the website. I think it may be easier than turbocharging.

I've had a good search Kev' but can't see a zetec supercharged. Think I'll contact them anyway for a ball park cost.
