Had a fantastic day and was very lucky to come 2nd in class and twelfth overall from 112 entries
The opposition was the company SBD 2lt Duratec 304bhp Westfield , chassis prepared by SBD -- two drivers SLICK TYRES.
a BEAUTIFUL Crossle 270 bhp zetec on SLICKS 10 inches wide.
The number one driver for SBD was awesome doing 87.5 sec's
Number two did 100 sec's
Then the Crossle did 98.6 sec's
I managed a 96.7 sec's practice run BUT my timed run was 2 sec's slower than my best ever(95.5 sec's) at 97.8 sec's However -- it was enough to pip the Crossle so 2nd in class it was and very grateful I was too
If we'd had further timed runs maybe I'd have been pipped to 4th which is where I thought I'd be looking at the entry list. There was a major accident into St Mary's where an MX5 got onto the grass edge , spun backwards into the tyre wall and rolled several times. It was a write off It took an hour and a half to get him out into an ambulance plus repair the tyre wall so the other runs were cancelled to be fair to all as there wasn't enough time for 112 entrants to even get one more run.
Message from the hospital said he was going to be ok though , however his wife and two little children looked very shocked and upset getting into the ambulance to take him there
Apparently he lifted then tried to steer back onto the tarmac which set him into a spin then roll situation --- so a marshall said. If only he'd kept a balanced throttle and stayed parallel with the grass , he may have got out of it
