Side Window Seal Cutout?

Just after a bit of advise! I have attached a picture and have shown in red an area which we think should be cut out to relieve the door seal, as it is an un-even step on the other side of the door (see second photo) Is this the right thing to do, or does it not cause any problems when the side screens are put on?

Thanks

Yes, I think you should. The vertical lip along the top of the door is then in line with the lip on the rear of the screen frame when the door skin is aligned with the wing.

I thought you had to crimp the seal at the pinch points. I cant remember how its done though - perhaps with the other halfs hair straightners (well she told me they are good).

Re- being in line :?: It's easier , as I've said before on this site , to cut off completely the f/glass vertical bit on top of the door. You then glue onto that an alloy angle strip in position to line up where you need it to. It's not long ago that someone asked me how/where/why etc  This then helps to angle the poly screens so they grip the rubber seal tightly.

I like the natty top of screen curvature but not sure how that will be easy to fit a hood to , should you want one :?:

Thanks for the advice everbody. Looks like cutting the vertical lip off is the best way to go. Found the previous post on the side screen Rob. What's this boat glue you spoke of?

The return on the top of Spidermikes screen looks good, but doesn't look as though you use a hood.

Hello Peter , not like you to post  Yaght glue is a 3 part mix of 2 powders plus the resin and a good boat yard will know what that is even though I can't recall the ' name ' of it. My alloy angle's been on since 1999 without showing signs of coming adrift . Just rough up the f/glass and half drill a few holes underneath the alloy plus rough that up too. Brilliant stuff 8)

We have a few boat yards/chandlers around as we are on the coast so will try and see what they have.

It's Matt the younger who normally posts, I don't normally get a look in!!
