has anyone ever looked into using motorcycle batteries in their stylus as an alternative to anything else?
also, where do people get there batteries from as i can only fin'd the really expensive varley red tops and although i'm sure they are great and do the job well, i'm pretty sure there are some cheaper ones out there!

Hello Alec , long time since we met
Before changing to more power and throttle bodies , I used the largest BMW motorbike battery on my 2lt zetec via a crossflow starter. It comes from the flat twin I think
Either way it's the most powerful one they do and was used by Caterham for years. It's 25 amps from memory and £65 . None of the other ' bike ' batteries will do it because they start modern 4 pot engines which are easy to turn over. I've got a brand new redtop 8 that weighs 2.7 kgs which I tried on the new engine but it wouldn't start it reliably due to the current draw on TB's and compression. It was 90 odd quid but you could have it for 60 quid. I use a redtop 25 now

Hi Rob! yeah it has been a very long time. Trackday last year was the last time along with my work colleague and my dad! My RT hasn't been on the road since then and has been hidden away in my dads garage until yesterday when I decided it was time to blow away the cobwebs! after buying my house and getting promoted at work its all been a bit manic. i have the internet at my house now so i should be on here more often like i used to be!
I've got the battery problem sorted now! just needed a damn good charge. thanks for the offer of your one though!
I have got my MOT this afternoon! no problems I don't think and my new girlfriends dad is the tester so if there is i'm sure he'll let me fix it!
I found out who the green stylus belongs to! Its the one that you had for a while. It now lives about 3 miles from my mum and dad! Thats a turnout for the books!
So are you going to be about towards the end of november? i'd love to meet up if you get the chance.
take care and see you soon!
