ARB kit to Sepang !

I've sold a few of these kits to various Sylva marques and had more enquiries just recently from the sylvachatlist . Just working out the cost of sea freight to Malaisia :o  He has a Pheonix powered by a Lotus 4 pot giving him 250bhp without the turbo 8) He races in the HONG KONG CLASSIC where he regularley finishes on the podium. Offered me board & lodging if I went to the Sepang F1 which is the circuit he uses for competition. Don't reckon I could stand 40 degrees though , I struggle at 25 degrees when we get it
So perhaps I'll get some pic's of his car in action at Sepang and put them up here for interest 8)

what an opportunity, hot countries cope so much better with the heat than we do. Every car and every building has AirCon, you'd be fine :!: Maybe i could go and pretend i was you

Rob.

Iv been to sepang for F1.
With the right positioning you can see a fair bit of the circuit. As for the heat, just take an umbrella. All the cars & buildings have AC. It is always set so high (or low  ) that a jumper is needed. It is so strange to take some layers off when leaving a building.

At a push I could perhaps go as your ambasidor/delivery boy.

I have been fitting my ARB over the last few days (to cold to stay out long & Im trying to do it whilst the car is on the trailer). It fitted exactly as the instructions say. The only reason I didnt do it earlier is a water pipe was in the way.

:D Glad it went together well . One thing I could have said is fit it all apart from connecting the link rods , up on jacks for easy working BUT leave fitting the link rods until the weight of the car is on the ground. That way there will be no pre--tension by fitting/adjusting the rods to possibly unequal lengths due to imperfections in the suspension drop when on jacks . Being unequal/adjusted to fit once the car's on the ground isn't a problem. Common sense really so forgot to say  ROB

Here's the car it's going on . The Pheonix on the left . The owner/driver is to the far right next to a Locost , he built both that and the middle Locost to fund another build 8) Strange that the '' Pub/cafe '' has such an English name aye  I'm hoping he'll forward some more pic's perhaps on track as it's a really nice looking Pheonix :)

Pah, if it'd been a week earlier I could have delivered it for you! I've just spent 2 weeks over there visiting the fiancée's family!

Yup, if things don't go to plan I might be there again in the summer... I'll ask before I go that time!

Here's pic's of his fitted ARB , showing the differing lower front chassis bracing between SYLVA marques , even on the same model in this instance . He had to move the water pump otherwise it was an easy fit so he tells me :)
Jeremy Phillips adapted his chassis to suit the installation of the LOTUS SUNBEAM engine/box & rear axle .(2.2 lt 270bhp@9000rpm)
This car is normally on the podium unless it's knocked off track or breakages , so he and it are a quick combination. I'll be facinated to see the result of fitting the ARB , once he's set-up and adjusted to the new feel of the front end / slicks too
He's also started manufacturing LOCOST type kits to run in their classic and sports car series at Sepang.
So now the ARB has been fitted to STYLUS , FURY , PHOENIX & MENACE 8)

OK hello to everyone, I’m the guy in Malaysia, just registered here, look an interesting/active forum.

To start off very pleased with the ARB, haven’t tried it yet, on the road, as curcit is closed for the F1, but looking to tow the car south to Johor Baroh, Malaysia's second track in next few weeks, but fitting was easy, all matched up as supplied, only problem was that it fouled my electric water pump, and I had to make new brackets and get new hoses to move it an inch or two,

I see Drhunter plans to marry a Malaysian, I can recommend that, get in touch when you are here, I never get to meet another owner, and there is something going on most weekends, at the track if your interested.

Don’t worry about carrying stuff, I can buy from UK shops VAT free, and the extra postage is less than the VAT so in many cases I can get the parts cheaper here than you can in the UK.

The Pub looks British because its Scottish, its our local and its actually further away vertically than it is horizontally.

Last question how do I add a profile?

Looks like you already have  Click on your own BERW forum name and it will show everything you've chosen to be seen by all . If you mean the ''avatar'' --- photo next to your every posting and forum name THEN you'll have to PM Werner on how to put one up because it's 3 yrs since I did it and I've forgotten ---------- it's the privilege of age
