How to fix hood piece to screen

As above really, I have my half hood which incorporates the original SSC hood piece. The original hood used to use 2 bolts to bolt it to the windscreen surround I was wondering if there was an alternative method, like some sort of clip or catch.

Any ideas welcomed.

When I had a screen  ....

I used 2 mountain bike quick release seat post bolts.
Bonded the nut half inside the hood rail, & used the lever adjusters as a cam type locking bar from underneath.
Quick, simple, & cheap.

Old thread alert!

Matt, did you cut the top of the screen surround so yo can slide the roof in and do up the quick releases? Or do you still screw in the quick releases before doing them up?

Hi

I had them loose, & passed the pin through each time. Over time the alloy thread did fail, steel pin into ali doesnt last long !

But you could bond the nut to a hinge then to tha rail & slot the hood rail or similar.

Thanks Matt. I've fitted the QR like normal bolts as a temporary measure until I get round to cutting slots in the windscreen rail. I'll post some photos when done.

Old thread, I know, but relevant so I won't start a new one!

Has anyone tried using a drop-nose pin with a spring on the shaft? Assuming there's enough space to get a finger in above the pin - push it down, flip the nose through 90 degrees and it's latched through the hole in the screen surround? Probably need a washer or two bonded on either side to avoid chafing.

Just curious. Aside from the lack of tools, I'm not sure how the bike quick release bolts are any faster than regular bolts...

You can't adjust the clamping pressure with those Joe but using the bike clamps it's easy to apply more pressure if you think it's not sealing then simply clip the lever arm across .

I figured a pretty stiff spring would provide enough pressure, but maybe not. Might have to do some testing if I can find an one in my box of shackles and bits...was mostly thinking out loud :D
