Has anybody got, or know where to get an exhaust manifold to fit a 2.0 Zetec and silencer into a classic sill?
Thanks in advance Pete..

Are you going to leave the silencer inclosed in the sill :?: If you do then only a 4 inch is really safe so it'll have to be lined out with heat reflectant . Far better to expose it then you'll be able to service it easily plus have less trouble meeting the decibel requirement of 101 db's .
Nobody makes a ready made manifold now SSC's not running so best to get it made. 1 & 7/8 ths diameter . Between 28 & 32 inch long primaries - obviously all equal length  Must be 4 into 1 not 4 - 2 into 1
Quite a few have used my/Paul Dunnell's formula off this forum now so they can give you costs . Mine was very expensive so no point in directing you to my contact --- 600 quid manifold , 200 quid/second hand BTB silencer
Would really hate to see your Stylus be a bonfire having it in the sill contained

Yes I am having it exposed, BGH geartech do one that requires a little bit of fettling to fit from the fury for £285 and £140 for the silencer. Just trying to find out what options are out there.

Well if it's going to be exposed you should fit a 6 inch diameter silencer , repackable and use ' basalt '. In the long run you'll be glad you did

Is that what size your's is? What length is your silencers main body? How well do you do on the noise limits?

i did a bit of a guide:

not finished (as I got bored) but will help you out......

The body is 26 inches long including the domed ends and is 6 inches diameter . The engine is 231bhp@ 7750rpm and has an airbox for the throttle bodies which quietens it somewhat compared to carb's . I normally get tested for track at 5200rpm , supposedly 3/4 max rev's  At those rev's she shows between 98 and 102 db's depending on the conditions. The key thing is to use basalt for packing . It will knock several db's off a normally packed silencer.

Don't know what power you have or plan for longterm but it's always cheaper to build it right first time ---- been there , done that twice

Length is important so if it's possible to squeeze another inch or so onto it's length , do it  If you one day plan '' big '' bhp for the zetec then use a 7 inch silencer  (over mine)

Thanks Norma, I have read thru your guide and it all seems to be how I was expecting. I am using a 1996 engine so will need to fit a cat somewhere in there for sva/iva. Do you have any photos of your manifold? how did it all go together?
Rob, I will definatly be going for repackable and basalt and although 231bhp would be nice, for me its unlikely!! 6" silencer should be enough.
Is the internal volume of the silencer more important or is it the length/bore and therefore the amount of time the gas spends in there loosing energy?

Last comment is the point , yes (volume -but it's sound waves , the gas flows straight through 8) ) My through pipe is 2.75 inch so that takes away some wadding space. The other point I'd not mentioned before is thickness of the S/S silencer --- get one made too thin for lightness and it'll make more noise
