Just put my 1996 Landcruiser 4.2TD VX 24 valve with Allisport Intercooler on pistonheads at £5000 . Great tow car but too juicey for me now I'm retired. Having said that , it does do 27 mpg
on a steady long run but 25
on fast 70 mph plus cruising with the trailer/Stylus behind. Lowest would be 22 mpg
when towing the IFOR WILLIAMS plus Bobcat , but that 's 5.5 tonnes train weight
£5 grand will buy it --- less if push comes to shuv'

Your wrong mate --- that cruiser will go absolutely anywhere , miles better than a Range Rover . I've pulled a 2.5 tonne bobcat on a 3/4 tonne trailer behind it through mud and ruts to get to sites --- absolute doddle
Repair bills

I know they are good Rob i was refering to proper lanes when you are going through ruts at such an angle the only thing stopping you tipping are the doors and wings or you have trees hitting the roof, i'm just saying i wouldn't like your repair bills. You are more than welcome to come out with me and try it, but i will stick with my Land Rover

It's been sold today to a couple of South African guys who intend driving it through France , Sudan and all the way down to Cape Town , over a couple of months , camping as they go. Very clued up , had cruisers before and planned fitting huge fuel tank also a tent on the roof
Going to sell the new tyres on it and fit even bigger ones to help over the sandy parts
Just got to get a tow bar fitted onto the new one before the Stylus can go anywhere
(2005 Landcruiser 3lt TD LC5 49,000 on the clock)

.Hi Rob
Read about your sale, reminded me that I've actually driven a Cruiser across Sudan, I was in South Sudan when the V President died in a plane crash spent 7 days on the construction camp, before we were able to make a dash to Khartoum, by that time I'd stopped being scared (12 people were hacked to death in the village the first day), and quit enjoyed the trip, the drive up the white Nile valley is fantastic.

Funnily enough , while out on the test drive , we did joke about '' did the sun roof work '' because that's where they'd need to mount the machine gun
Mind you these guys were BIG
Both around 6' 4'' , so they'd have quite a lot to hack at
Alec would have fitted in very well
sorry Alec
