hi rob
good morning m8ty how u quick question ... i just got some heatmat and looking at your photos where it shud go can u tell the the best way of bonding it to body pls is it just a normal hight temp adhesive or is it somthing stronger. and do i need to put some exhaust wrap on as well . also i was looking at sorting out the dash (making one) is it ok to use ply wood .

Hello Ian , the heatmat needs to go directly above the engine and exhaust manifold/especially . For a road car a more secure method of fixing would be with beads of SIKAFLEX about 2 inches apart over the full length and edge of the heatmat . Glue is ok on mine where the weight of the matt is almost non existant but your mat is a fairly heavy fabric I guess. Don't wrap the manifold or exhaust . More heat will be created by wrapping then if you should miss a tiny bit or a gap appears over time with vibration you'll have a fibreglass bonfire = end of Stylus
Many new owners have made this very expensive error. The key point with keeping the engine bay/exhaust etc cool , is YES , to have plenty of air coming in BUT more important is to have plenty of exits for that air which is now HOT
Hence my very exposed side exit plus big side slots in the body. AIRFLOW is what it's all about .
Regarding a DASH --- it's really personal preference material wise but I'd keep it light hence most using imitation carbon fibre or alluminium. Having a bike engine reduces the weight a good deal which helps performance and handling so why add weight again
