One of our longest members

In early JULY 2009 , Andy Bailey was hospitalised due to severe pain . He hadn't at that stage wanted visitors or contact but his brother has been keeping me informed of events. Andy's been staying at his parents home awaiting results of tests and I've spoken to him but this last week was taken into Atkinson Morley for an operation on his spine. He apparently is looking forward to getting back home to his parents but not before a period at the Royal Surrey , at Guildford.
I'm not certain how many of you know him so if any of you'd like his parents address , please contact me via PM or my mobile if you have it. I'll visit him soon hopefully after he's moved to Guildford.

Well with any luck by the time he's back in his parents home , his youngest brother will have sorted out a lap top for him so he'll be browsing through this forum again
Obviously his main PC is in his own house but he can't care for himself there
I will pass on your sentiment though -- maybe even word for word

Andy's nearer home now , in the ROYAL SURREY hospital at Guildford and we'll be going to see him tomorrow afternoon . They have the task of getting him standing now as he's been on his back for weeks. Loads of physio etc
quite tough I'd imagine

Frances and I visited Andy on Tuesday last . He'd had a big dose of pain killer not long before we got there so had got some sleep for a while. Once he woke up we had a good chat for an hour and I left him with a couple of Oct car mag's to browse . He can get this website on the pull down screen so has been checking it regularly. A work mate from Mclaren arrived so we left them to chat.
He's in a fair amount of pain but is very positive

I dropped by to see Andy last night.
Quite hard to recognise him really, its a big shock to your system to see him physically,
which you have to ignore & move on.
Under all that, he's good to talk to, & he's still focused on getting home in the short term.
The nurses are busy trying to get him to stand, then walk, which is the immediate target.
I wish him well.
Matt

I visited Andy again last Saturday but he was a very poorly man . Since then he's moved to a hospice and doesn't want visitors . He was pleased we'd gone but was too tired to talk much
I have contacted all who I could remember may have had contact with him so hope anyone who needs to know , does know .
Just PM me if you need to .

I've tried getting onto the Styluslist several times but since Don's been running it I appear to have been excluded / can't post

I've been talking with Dave Newall this morning (Stylus builder -- also works for Mclaren) and he says that everyone who worked with Andy or who just knew him , are all just stunned and shocked nor can they fully take it in
The funeral will be at the GUILDFORD CREMATORIUM on Friday the 30th of October , at 3-00pm. The reception isn't finalised but is likely to be at the Sailing Club , in SEND near WOKING. Any change from this will be mentioned at the funeral or I may put it here if time allows.
