Had a really great free day out at this event and the RAF guys were very friendly too. A very relaxed affair , going out whenever you fancied it , about 30 sec's apart . Course was 1.5 miles with 4 corners and a bustop chicane . My only timed run was done on my second run so wasn't really on the pace because it wasn't the ABINGDON course that we have for ABINGDON CARNIVAL sprint. Other cars were being timed through out the day , however I was 4th fastest overall at 46 sec's , the 3 in front of me were from 44 , 43 sec's and were world rally cars , EVO , Darrion with big power . Observers said I was a lot quicker in the afternoon.
I took out quite a few passengers , most either being very surprised it was quick or saying f-----ing hell . One guy was the RAF Subaru WRC navigator and his feet were pressed very hard to the bulkhead --- when he got out , I said what do you think then ? he said , it just keeps pushing on each gear change and was expecting it to flatten off maybe in 4th or 5th --- wow
Our FDMC competition secretary took his twin rotary engined Westy to test out before the Abingdon Carnival sprint on 12th June. Had to pack up due to an exhaust bracket failure but before that happened it was bloody quick , so just needs to sort the handling then it will be MADNESS quick
I had a similar problem to my Goodwood test day , in that carrying passengers forces the front left wheel arch to foul the tyre around corners , so the tyre sort of melted over the outer 20mm's
