First event after that will be 30th April Bognor Regis MC Goodwood Sprint and I've chosen that for my ' Joker ' which is double points on the ACSMC Sprint Champ'p .

I discovered yesterday , when actually phoning Goodwood to pay up for the test day , that their website price of £125 has become £130 for 2011
Ah well , somebody's got to pay for ' his ' silk shirt and new Bentley ---- obviously ressession isn't in his vocabularly

I always test in the afternoon session --- leaving the house at 5-00am just has to be done on competition events but there's no way I'm doing that if it's not necessary
Arriving for 11-30am is just right for sound test and briefing then relaxing over lunch . Takes me 2 1/4 hrs leaving early so will be longer in work traffic . There'll be a charge though , if you wanted to passenger , Goodwood always charges extra plus you have to attend the briefing and fill forms etc
Melvin , Phillip and Matt could also be there on the day . Matt's probably the lightest weight so if he's willing , I'd like him to ride shotgun first out to watch the dials pretty closely while the engine gets assessed ---- I can't drive ' quick ' and read dials at the same time
There's no way Phillip's sitting in the passenger seat though at 6ft 3ins and 16st
The front left tyre melted on the bodywork with you on board on the last test day , if you remember so will have to throttle back a bit

Well what a day . Weather wasn't ideal but had dry but still slippy patches so times weren't great but was clocked at 106 sec's by Dave Rix who came to give me a little grief
well I did blow his Subaru engine at Goodwood a while back . Matt arrived as promised , thanks Matt , and did some dial checks for me over 10 laps . No engine issues , around 4/5000 rpm is a touch less grunt in 4th than before but it was wettish so not absolutely on it . The top end is great , still pushing in 5th at 8000rpm so says Matt
. Bit strange actually cos the revcut should have stopped me at 7800 rpm :?Had some real fun with Matt on board attempting to keep up with the Stars And Stripes 6.2lt Manta on 14inch wets ---- what a monster , sounded awesome . He never even so much as switched going through the corners and I was squiggling around a bit trying to keep him in my sights . Matt seemed to enjoy it so no harm done --- probably good that it was wet or I may have regrettably gone beyond my talent chasing him
On a dry track we'd never have seen him again once he'd left the pits in front of us . Mind you a pair of Caterhams let off behind us were never in mirrors over the 5 laps . New head seems to like more to drink too . It took 3/4 gallon to top up after the 5 laps at 2.4 miles a lap

I limped home after Goodwood with the wheels screeching away on the trailer , mostly at 40mph . Serves me right for not servicing it apart from three Tyres over 12 yrs . Bearings needed repacking buy ok otherwise . Cables and shoes , auto reverse device plus springs etc etc . One brake drum had the lower shoe pivot sheared off and rolled up into a shiny ball . I made a new pivot and welded that on but the rest was expensive . £316 for shoes , fittings etc for two axles then four new cables . You'd think at that price they'd throw in four split pins for the castle nuts though ---- just have to buy some tomorrow . Anyway , five hours later it's done ready for the 30th April at Goodwood .

A damp day, but successful test at goodwood with some interesting cars on track such as the stars and stripes manta which sounded like a plane taking off on the straight with a certain red stylus catching up !

no wonder, it's twice the size of the stylus and probably has an engine 10 times as big

Rain and sun is forcast for the Sprint at Goodwood this Saturday -- maybe it'll just be shower when I'm in my paddock slot
Unless there are some late entries it looks like it's me plus my old adversary the spaceframe Escort in sports libre . I noticed his declared engine spec has changed from 1998cc to 2001cc so he's either had a problem or some improvements
It has coilovers on the tube chassis with a 625kg overall weight and Marty B discovered he had 260bhp up front , after a crafty chat . We'll just have to see how he goes on Saturday
