Tyres

I need to replace all four tyres on the "toy". Present tyres are Yokohama A539 and have performed well. Mostly for quick road use and the very odd track day. Going to Gurston Hill Climb school in May to brush up some of the skills.
Does any one have any recommendations please?

For road all rounder wet and dry Toyo Proxes and will be pretty good on track too . I used them for roadgoing sprint class . Yoko 21R are better on track wet and dry . If you want real grip then Toyo R888 provided you drive with caution on the roads in very wet conditions .

I run R888's and have to disagree with Rob - re very wet conditions (or maybe just expand on his point).
These tyres are very sticky on wet roads, they also work well in hammering rain where its raining so hard that the whole road has a covering (probably just a few mm's but looks more).
However - as with any other tyre on a very light car - keep your eyes peeled for deep water, its common sense.
I've had A539's, the A048's and now R888's.
I would choose the toyo's for ANY weather conditions over either of the yoko choices. You will notice a MASSIVE improvement moving from old A539's to new Toyo's!!!
I have driven (pushing hard) through the lovely N.Wales twisty roads in appalling conditions with no scary moments what so ever - these tyres are brilliant.

Unless you weigh masses
when you go to Gurston keep your R888's to 17psi for each run . They will rise in the sun and after each run . Going home they may have cooled off so check they're not low --- once home the next day mine are often just 14psi . If it pisses down then pop another 2 or 3 psi in on track.

Thank you for the,as usual, good advice Rob. Any tips to stop me making a fool of myself are gratefully recieved, as my reactions are not what they were!
