Just got my entry through for our 1st event at Gurston on Saturday 16th April (2 weeks).
I am the 1st runner of the day at 8.30am
This is being filmed by Fifth Gear (the event, not my run
)
Car is not ready yet - no mot wheels or tyres, license not arrived yet, so starting to panic.
I will post a list of events later. Kevin

Car back together, but not tested. I have new wheels & tyres (Yoko A048 again) awaiting to be picked up. Got to get an MOT still. And license is in the post.
Rob, one of the advantages of being road legal is free testing (within reason of course).
So will be looking at some evening mileage.

True , but until you've put the car into a circuit corner at a speed you tried the previous season , I personally can't be sure of any differences -- either set-up or engine torque . Where on the road can you enter , apex and exit an almost 90 degree corner like St Mary's in 4th at 5000rpm
It may not have been 5000 last Tuesday though -- Matt might confirm or otherwise
The truth is that I need to stump up the courage , after 7 mths out of the saddle , to keep my right foot in place when my brain is telling me to lift
' Time ' changes everything Kev -- I was at Rushmoor Arena watching the sprint on Sunday and my previous best of 54 sec's was soundly beaten and acheived by a few new boys to the venue too , one in a BMW M3 csl which is extremely heavy . If you don't keep going quicker each time at a venue --- you just go backwards

Not going well... Wheel & Tyres ready to go, offset is different to existing so may need body alterations.
Took the car for its MOT. This did not go well. I started off with the fuel gauge reading 11 litres. However it remembered the level left from last year. As I was driving the gauge dropped & the warning light came on after 5 minutes. Just got to a fuel station with the car cutting out frequently. I can only assume the petrol had evaporated it that time.
Filled up & got on my way, the engine ran rough all the way & ran way to rich & wouldn't pull.
Got to the MOT station, drove it on the ramp, cracked the sump.
The car is still on the ramp but I have the sump. Need to find an Ally welder.
Still haven't got my license. 2 days to go

How the devil did the sump get cracked then , hadn't you been on this mot ramp before ? What a damn shame

Rob, In front of the ramp was the break test rollers. They normally drive straight across them, leaving the covers off. The Stylus must be lower than anything else they test. As an eliminate of speed & momentum is required the sump must of come crashing down onto the middle part of the test rig.
Anyway today was an eventful day. All to long to post but nearly everything that could have happened did.
End result. Stylus running great, (was a faulty spark plug). Mot passed. Got home license on the mat.
Wheels not too good a fit, (to wide & no time to sort arches). Corner weights to do & of course a good wash.
Just got to try & match Robs time at Gurston & I'll be well happy.
Roll on Saturday.

Well, thanks Craig, but not quite. My best time was 39.69. Beat my best time of 39.98 in 09. Interesting looking at the splits as my Ashes times (Karousel, Deer Leap, Ashes) where fairly good & just .7 slower than Tiff & just a tad faster than Jon from 5th gear. However the 5th gear boys where doing times of 33's, in the V6 Atom !!
I tried a bit to hard on my last run & fluffed 2 gear changes. I must try & get an LSD fitted before the next hillclimb as this is hampering my times considerably.
Great to meet Craig, & maybe tie up at the next event, Wiscombe on the 21st & 22nd of May.
The 5th gear prog will be shown on the 13th May.

Nice that it will be televised Kev but not so quick as the '' five '' guys ------ never mind , at least you pipped my 2003 time by 0.2 sec
Now I'll have to stop talking about going to Gurston again and go do it at some point
