hello rob and all
now that i have my car all finished regarding the build i am looking to get legal and on the road.i have been intouch with caithness and co ltd and had a chat with one of geoff mace colleagues and they have quoted me a price of £261.00 for the year (is that a good quote do u think) and that is fully comp.what i am looking at now is the tyres a question id like to ask if u all dont mind is the tyres that are on the car at the moment are continentals contie co contact cp 195/50 r15 82v as i still have lots to learn about kit car driving are these suitable for road use as i wont be racing or doing any track days as such just yet lol. and what should the tyre presure be i have them set at 20psi at the moment is that to high as its only a motorcycle engine in the car

How many miles does the insurance cover? My insurance cost under £200 for 3000 miles last year.

Ian , 22psi is way too high . If those Continentals have been on the car while it was locked away in that garage before you got it THEN they are very hard too. If you leave them on the car then 16psi will be plenty with your bike power but if it's you plus your wife then I'd run 18 at the rear only.
Best tyre for your car would be either Toyo R888 , Kumho Ecsta V700 or if not going to trackday at all then Toyo R1R .
Regarding the Caithness quote , apparently all insurers have upped prices across the board so it's higher than quoted previously but still good value ---- try a few others to check.
If you buy those I mentioned then 16 to 17 psi on bike engine weight.
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

I'm with Frank Pickles and for 5000 miles inc commuting its just been renewed at £150 thats for a 1.6xflow, no points and 35years old (me and the engine probably!) no agreed value though.

Hi. Im also with Frank Pickles. my quote at the start of the year was about £100. But when I eventially got round to taking it out in April. The figure had gone up to £150.
