Rob...I have considered the 'not road legal path' but have no where big enough to store trailer, dont currently have towbar, most work already identified would be required for either road or race, quite fancy using it on the occasional weekend jaunt...
Work identified (and confirmed after very informative chat with SSC Tim who does indeed know the car):
Remove body - refurb tub etc
Reposition body 'in correct location this time'
Reposition engine on new mounts - 3inches back from current location (shorter prop therefore required)
Rip out all wiring & put in complete new loom - Welcome suggestions as to best buy/fit, someone suggested Vicky Green?!?
New Dash (proper one this time)
New Guages and switches (proper ones this time)
Reposition the roll bar and mount correctly (not ideal at mo)
Refurb suspension components
Refurb/New brake components
Refit all above - new panel behind seats, install one in bulkhead (behind pedals), inside both front arches.
Thats just the stuff we know about!!
In addition I want Anti roll bars fitted, external/internal MSA Cut Off switches, upgrade steering rack and a couple of other bits
Then theres the cosmetic stuff...!!
As for HWMBO - she's v understanding
