Checked TOE and it was towing out

JUST come back from a 40mile test out after changing toe and further wedge adjustment --- MILES better

All the parts/work done is listed in these pages .Full photo list during work plus previous history. This car was factory part built for Collin Mc lenin to tour Europe in 2001 then Miles Youden bought it/sold it . I bought it from Mathew Morris , who has another Stylus himself. His plan was to remove the body and fit his ROCHDALE 60's kit body onto this car. Didn't happen.Tim can recall quite a lot about the car as he was then working for P. Powell.
April 20th - ish

I've had the BRG car about 4 weeks now and the jobs are getting done pre-sale. Engine got an oil+ZX1 and filter change plus new sump plug washer(Raceline) -- It was missing and sealed with some disgusting ' blue ' crap

Also needed new plugs after extracting the existing ones from the water filled plug gallery(sucked out with plastic pipe then loo paper

The hood to screen fixing was broken plus loose nuts/bolts used to attach which is bloody awkward SO permanently fixed the bolts into the hood rail.Hood was dull so re-treated it.
Next was sort the rust in the driver's footwell and under both seats .
The cockpit was filthy -- seats/carpet dog haired / maybe dogs were better company ? It took hours to get the hairs off the Caterham velour seats then most of the morning brushing with a suede brush. The dashboard got a good clean and shine. Boot was similar. Neither boot nor bonnet catches worked/now sorted. The windscreen surround was badly cut and unstuck - now at least nothing hanging and re-stuck.
The next major job was to make the exhaust in sill 'bodged cut out' look more intended rather than hacked. This isn't finished yet but looks better already. Inside , the original one peice silencer/repackable had been swapped to two standard steel ones . To make it look better now the 'hole' exposes more , I'll fit a vented guard to the hole.Various detail repainting after rubbing down.
STILL to do ---------- all new front/rear shocks - springs - rear leading/trailing longer travel arms and bushes . New diff' support bolts - it's dedion rear(old ones wrong diameter and will cause diff' flex) Then it's a lot of scraping , rubbing of chassis in preparation for rust treatment which will take a lot of time , once I can get it in the air to work on. Once that's done , I'll play around with set up and finally give it some sticky rubber . The rubber might be left if an offer comes less than my sale price. Be good to set it up on the right rubber though.
Rob.

New open / guarded side exhaust to give more airflow plus more gold detail

Come to a grinding halt

That's as far as I've got due to ' work ' commitments.

At last managed to get one side cut off thisafternoon after cutting some more F/Glass out the way for grinder room. What a performance , still, got some derust and treatment done at the same time before it rained and I packed up. Hope it's fine Sunday then I'll get the other side off.

The grey rust treatment is the first coat . After the second coat it will turn nearly black. Then it'll get hammerite . As this pic'.

Got the drivers side new long travel suspension on today -- certainly looks better than the first pic's I posted.

Today was the first chance to get the other side done working under the eze - up.

Today(17th May)finished rust scraping at the rear chassis and painted , including under the seat pans. Took out the tunnell cover to get at the fuel pipe connections and changed all rubber fuel lines/return line/tank bung. While access was easy I greased the propshaft at both ends and checked the diff oil level which was fine so topped up with ZX1 Extralube . Waiting for bolts to finish the left side rear suspension.
Battery fixing to tidy and fix securely then front chassis rust/paint to do --- NEARLY THERE

Today removed battery after shifting header tank out the way ---- just look at this

Scraped it all off

2 coats hydrate plus hamerite

Battery back in / charged / header in / new clamp arrangement

So far the rust treatment/painting has taken 30 hours --- just the front chassis to look at now

Since lowering the car down/setting suspension /ride height /fueling up after emptying tank , I thought I'd start her up and move it around. Course , totally forgot all the hammering at the bushes trying to get the old suspension bent arms etc off

Apart from this little 'time waster' the car's starting to look nice on top and underneath although there'll always be more bits to tidy up and I have to stop somewhere.
Shan't be going now

21st May:-
Stripped off the old fuel pipe from pump to filter (front this time - done rear

Next was more chassis scraping/hydrate coats. Raining so packed up 4-00pm.

Now hammerited
