FDMC Rushmoor Sprint
Well, decided to get off the fence..
I've just sent off my entry for the FDMC Rushmoor Sprint on 11th April.
Will be my second ever sprint, 1st since a very wet Eelmoor in Oct 06.
Also doing an autosolo to warm up in a couple of weeks.
The Stylus is a lot better setup now, and I've actually been driving it the last 2-3 years so I now "know the car" a bit better too.
Bit more determined to drive rather than maintain it these days
She'll have eaten yet another £500 coming out of hibernation though

Well done Matt.
We don't start our campaign until the week after @ Gurston. Haven't renewed our licenses yet.
Have a great time, hope to get to see you.

416 miles for me to come and see so will read all about it here there are some times I wish I lived in Englandshire to be a bit closer to all these events to give support.

Re: FDMC Rushmoor Sprint
Had some fun at the Autosolo today
Got a 2nd in class, behind a well pedaled Caterham, but in front on another, then a Westie + Exige.
So... a nice plaque for the office wall
Had a bit of a water temp problem on the third course cos the rad fan stopped working, so had to stop & fix it (broken wire/crimp).
Meant the other cars in class had done their 4 runs, & I'd only done one, with 2 to count (or ur out).
Just tagged onto the back of the last car & got a second run, which was good.
Then the marsals allowed me to do a third run, if I went straight back out.
Was in the groove, & did a run that felt quicker until the last big turn... found the limit & lost the rear end into a right, saved it, but she was still turning right before the corner so had to flick it striaght then back right.
Consequently ran out of road, & took a cone dead centre into the front, which folded the number plate under & wedged itself under the sump.
Price to pay is a bit of GRP work needed to the front end under panel (usual spot !).
Overall though... a lot of fun for £35 !
Roll on the sprint in a couple fo weeks

Well done Matt brilliant that the day was dry for your first Rushmore event. You did damn well going from 62 odd sec's to 56 sec's by the day's end Now you've got a target

FTD was in Matt's class at 51.8 sec's --- TVR engined Westy with all the ' right ' suspension bits -- awesome to watch .

Re: FDMC Rushmoor Sprint
Well, I had some fun, which is the main thing
Quite happy really, just a minor niggle that the two more normal westies, both of which I beat in the solo, were quicker than me by 1.2 & 1.8 secs.
But they had been there before
First run was slowest, was a siteing run really, & the rest were a combination of finding the right gear/braking point.
I did get faster each run & the last run was the quickest. I had a lot more to give too, just not enough bottle / confidence.
Mild disappointment just fires you up for another go, plus makes you think about what could be improved, both driver & car wise.
More events + Practice, Practice, Practice !!!
Punished the car - that's on another thread !
But also feel a school day at Gurston or Prescott would go down well, plus its another upgrade sig on my licence.
Thanks for your support & advice Rob, always appreciated
