John - How did you do? Is it sold?

Be good to know the chassis number for the data base.

Cheers

a q-plate isnt a general problem outside UK..as long as it fullfills the local registration laws.

besides UK, in other euopean countries the emission classification is determined by the reg-date and not (as in UK) by the engine-age.

means: all reg-dates, from 1992 onwards, imported from somewhere, need to fullfill the emission standars valid for the specific reg-date, finally means:

a controlled (lambda probe, injection system and many things more) catalytic converter system is a must-have from 92 onwards.

this said, even a UK car fitted with Zetec, injection system and cat, cannot be re-registered outside UK without any further emission-tests once arrived at the specific country.

why? the reason is that the car has a differnt weight as the "engine donor", also a differnt exhaust system and maybe also a different injection system.

so the emission values, originally generated by Ford or Vauxhall are not transferable to such a kitcar (see reasons above)..means the car must be put on a rolling road , certain driving conditions are simulated where it needs to fullfill all the emission levels, given by the engine constructor, surplus the classifiation it needs to meet according to the reg.-date. this rolling road session needs to be done in a certified testing station. the test alone costs between 1500 and 3000 euro. (depending on the emission classification it needs to comply)

"Don't know but you're only in iterested in it to inport & make money "

not really..as the car as it is (without registration and fitted with this modern engine) makes no sense to import, because it cannot be homologated anywhere without a former british-registration.

with a x/flow engine i might have tried to buy it for myselves, even the registration would have been a very "difficult" and "special" process.

My car has been sold.
It has gone to an enthusiast in Germany.
Allocated Chassis No. is SSC 96011.

As mentioned in previous post, the detailed advice and experiences which I have had access to on this forum have been a great help and encouragement to me.
Thanks for that and keep on enjoying your Stylus'

hey...good news for you...but i´m 80% sure it will soon be offered again for sale in germany....only a dealer with good relations to the german TÜV authorities will buy such a car without a valid V5c....and i would not be surprised when it would be finally registered as dutton or sylva leader because the buyer has several V5c´s on hand.

If John's sold his Stylus I doubt he gives a TOSS what regulations the buyer needs to get around or where it lives or how it gets there

you got me wrong, i think:

as john was saying "It has gone to an enthusiast in Germany"

i only wanted to tell my doubts about the word "enthusiast"

anyway...as john got the money he wanted...who cares to whom the car was sold....

Or the "Enthusiast" could be someone not interested in getting it registered in Germany as they might only be building it for a track car....

We could all guess what enthusiast means but non of us know so why bother with the negative and rude posts, they serve no purpose apart from making you look bitter that he didn't sell it to you for peanuts to make a profit on...

i´m not rude...i kindly ask you to avoid such utterances.

i know how the german kitcar-scene is ticking...e.g.. track days are not that common here in germany as in UK...and if somebody is using a kitcar in germany for trackdays its to 99% a caterham, a german seven brand or lotus elise.

and i´m not bitter about not having made a deal with that car, as i´m not a dealer.

to calm down everything: 2 weeks ago, i already found a correctly registered stylus, with an "old" reg-date, which even authorizes this car to get the thought-after german histroic registration...and it cost less than the project from ebay..1 onwer and builder from new, built to an extreme high standard, never used in the wet in spot-on condition.
