Towing Points
Think the front will need a revised front hinge frame, but I need to do that anyway for front mount intercooler & larger rad in an effort to stopping it getting too hot.
Rear will need a hole in the body work onto a bracket on the rear rail somewhere.
Anybody done this properly before or got any ideas ?
Trying to make mounts for screw in OEM type eyes seems the best likely route to me.
Basically I want to be able to winch it onto my trailer.
Would use rollbar but as it goes on the strap angle gets tighter & bodywork starts getting cut into.
So - it needs to be low down on the chassis for a straighter pull.

Re: Towing Points
At the rear can't you either strap around the axle or weld an eye to it? Not sure about the front- I've been wondering about this myself!

Yep, strap round the axle is how I put it on last time, cos there's nothing up frontCraig-Chap wrote:At the rear can't you either strap around the axle or weld an eye to it? Not sure about the front- I've been wondering about this myself!
Had to start on roll hoop, then switch to axle when half on, as strap catches on underside of rear bodywork when starting off. If I leave it on the roll hoop, it catches on boot edge instead.

Re: Towing Points
Thinking slightly off the wall. Could you not mount the winch higher so you can use the roll bar all the way.
The new higher winch bracket could be removable/collapsible so as to not always stick up so high?

Re: Towing Points
The rear could be done with strong harness material around the axle right next to the diff --- looped over then riveted through ally plate each side or bolted. The front is very easy if it's not a flip front . I put a hole through the nose next to the driver's side '' A '' frame arms that bolt to the '' D '' sections in the nose ---- then weld a threaded tube onto a 8 inch x 1 inch x 1/8th plate at one end --- drill two holes in that plate inline with the '' A '' frame arms and use the same bolts to attach . Screw in the towing eye either permanently or when it's needed .
Mine was that way for 6 yrs till I flipped the bonnet and was used several times.
With the flip front you'll have to use harness method but attached to the lower driver's side chassis rail (rivetted as said above) then either velcro'd to the underside of the nose LIKE mine OR rolled up and cable tied to the chassis -- awaiting use
There's no way a steel or ally fixed towing mount can be used with the flip front
