Hi Chaps,
I've been lurking for a few weeks so time for an introduction and a fairly simple question.
From a background of Westfields, a 1.8K Fury, GTM Libra, and various others, I've decided to see if I can find a Stylus to fill the empty garage. I test drove Peter Powell's Zetec something like 12 years ago. At the time I had a Westfield as a daily driver, so my memory tells me it was very civilised.
Since then I had a Fury and enjoyed it, but couldn't quite get on with the size of the doors when I had the weather gear fitted. I had a removable steering wheel which helped, but it was still a gymnastic 9.8/9.6/9.7/9.9 effort.
I've read various accounts that the Stylus doors are meant to be marginally larger than the Fury's, and that the whole car is marginally more comfortable. Is there any substance behind this? I think my suspicion stems from the fact that they're virtually on the same chassis, so there's limited scope to steal an extra inch of space?
Cheers
Gary

Re: New member introduction, and Stylus door size question
Hi Gary, welcome!
My understanding is that the doors are marginally larger as the sills are a little lower. How much lower I couldn't tell you, and I think it's still a fairly entertaining exercise getting in/out with a hood up but even an inch or two can go a long way when there's a tight squeeze. Someone will be along soon with some precise measurements I'm sure!

Gary , the chassis are similar ie. recognisable JP at work but not the same chassis construction. The doors are hugely lower & wider due to the fact that a FURY has side chassis rails going through to the rocker towers virtually at rocker pivot height ie. rocker simply rest in pick-up points. STYLUS side chassis rails are so low that the rockers do actually have a '' tower '' that's quite high . That's the reason for using steel 1.4mm sheet between top/bottom chassis rails , to make up that strength lost , of rails being wide apart. It's actually a stiffer chassis. Could measure for you at some point if you likegaryo wrote:Hi Chaps,

Part of getting in and out of course is you own size/height but I found it ok on the green Stylus I renovated a few years back. Come and sit in mine if you're not far away --pm me
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Hi Gary,
I'm 6'4" and I don't have too much trouble getting in and out of the car with the roof on. I do have a removable wheel which makes it easier though!
