I'm not going to be able to do anything to the car till next week now , as we've a family wedding to get ready for plus a few hundred miles of travelling :!:
With this in mind , even though the clutch isn't yet bled and no waterwetter arrived , I decided to start her up and bleed the water system through. Coilovers/strut brace back on then pushed it out of the shed a few feet to lower the front , making the expansion tank the highest point for clearing air from the block. Ran it to temp for several fan on/off cycles without issues , so all ready to finish off next week and refit the flipfront/new rodends.
Great to hear it running again after 6 weeks of only nut/bolt jobs .

Rossco, I' m also an Aussie, been living here 22yrs but heading back to sydney in December. I haven't yet looked into what's required but do you know of any particular issues getting a kitcar road registered? And do the different states still have different laws for registration?
Mike
Hi Mike, After 22 yrs, you will be as broard as the original locals ! And "heading back to Sydney!" Wrong State ! Should be "Sunny South Australia !" Re Kitcars road registered, Yes, we still do have different laws in each State. Crazy, but that appears to be the way it is. Your car has to pass the current Australian Design Rules, & be certified by a Licenced Engineer who has experience in Kitcars. My Car specs went thru a bloke in Adelaide, before I even imported the basic Kit. My Email addy is listed to Rob, back a few posts. Contact me & I will see what I can find out.

I removed the outer top rocker rodends yesterday and fitted new one's (16,000lbs spec). Re-set camber/toe to my recent settings then added waterwetter to the cooling system , having drawn out a little water from the tank . Ran it up to temperature again twice before switching off . Need to buy fresh dot 4 for the clutch then re-fit the flip front etc.

I'm not really hurrying now , as it's easily going to be ready for the 15th June Goodwood event . Only concern will be that the gearbox internals have been de-glazed and Chris/BGH advised not rushing the gear changes for 20 miles or so ------------------ h'mmm , well not being a road car I can't do that , so hope all will be ok , having refilled with ZX1 plus the 1.6 litres of Millers 75w90 Nanotech. Don't really want to go slow in an event or it's not a competition

I could try but mostly I can't get into a trackday decibel 98 limit plus it's a lot of travel & entry fee into one that allows 105 db's. It's not roadgoing which limits where I can go before that June 15th date.

Other issues going on too with the road car m.o.t. wise . Failed on emissions last week so have been trying all sorts of tricks to get it through next time  Pass used to be 3 max but new EU rules are 1.5 max for cars very early 2008 onwards --- mine's a 2009  Fail level was 2.02 .
The bloody stupid thing is with all this save the planet crap , is that if your diesel car has a DPF & EGR fitted then the ECU checks the DPF filter and if clogging up (which it will do every 300 to 500 miles) it will then blow fuel down the exhaust on it's non firing stroke -- it will then burn the soot from the DPF filter --- great :!:
So not only is the car inefficient/less mpg , due to it's egr/dpf (bad for the planet) but when it throws fuel down the pipe that's also a waste (bad for the planet) If you add up the waste and inefficiency then surely a slightly higher emissions is less damaging to the planet :?
That's not even counting the money wasted developing such ideas plus associated fuel wastage from manufacturing all this stuff ---------- what a load of crap these do gooders enforce on us ---- rant over

Hi Mike.
Did not receive an email from you, and this is not in the correct thread, however it is where you asked the question. ----- !
Several long phone calls later, mostly interstate, as nothing is local, & you are going back to NSW. Also as an Australian Citizen, living overseas for many years.
Assuming you have owned the car for more than 12 months, (at the time of applying ) then you have very few problems.
You must be able to prove ownership. ( purchase documents, repair invoices, UK registration, etc. )
The car must have a Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number.
It must be fitted with ADR (Australian Design Rules) seat belts. (Generally near new Lap/Sash types qualify )
It must have a full height Safety Glass Windscreen.
Legal, road type tyres in good condition.
I have been advised that is about all, BUT,
You will need to check out http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports ----- Look under Eligibility, Manufactured after 1989, Personal Import
Then, for New South Wales registration, go to, http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au ---- go to Roads ---- Key Links ---- Get a new rego ------ Import a vehicle
Read & follow from there. Plus any other links that might apply !
It does not sound too hard, nor too expensive, but I cannot quote prices.
If you have NOT owned the Stylus for more than 12 months, It seems to be easier to sell it in the UK, but I could be wrong !!

Thanks Rossco, I check out the sites. I shouldn't have a problem getting it over there, had it since 1997!

Finally this morning , I drained the hydraulic clutch of it's old dot 4 , refilled with new dot 4 then bled it of air. The fluid looked clean but the supply and return pipes plus concentric slave were empty after the gearbox removal/re-fit , so it seemed sensible to buy fresh.

She's just about ready to compete again now --- flip to re-fit and tunnell top. Roll on the 15th June/Goodwood if not wet
