Engine Management
Engine Management
What is the best engine management system to get?
All i need is something to do the ignition side of things as i'm running carbs. Was going to run a module called a Hyperpak, but since the distributor now wont fit due to the poorly made manifold, i need to go distributor-less!!
Price is the driving feature here.
Omex is a lot of money! Looking at £800 for all the bits for the 200 system.
Any help would be great. Second hand systems is fine with me!!
Thanks
Matt

I've still got my DUNNELL weber carb ign only ECU and loom but it was for a FORD ZETEC 2lt . You could try phoning Paul Dunnell and ask if it could be re-mapped for your 4age
He told me that if I sold it he'd re-map at no charge but possibly he mean't if it was a zetc . Worth a phone call though . If he says yes then you could have it for £250

I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Re: Engine Management
You could do alot worse than to speak to my friends Chris & Catherine at http://www.trigger-wheels.com.
They should be able to sort you out something for a fair price - a full MegaJolt kit is about £300.

Re: Engine Management
their kits looks very good value for money compared to the Omex systems! The complete systems is less than the omex ECU!
Any experience of Megajolt?

Re: Engine Management
No experience personally, but it is a fairly well proven path - like the 'squirt, it does require a little more setup and configuration input from yourself, not quite plug and play, so that may be an influence. Worth dropping Chris a mail for a chat about it, he'll talk you through your options without obligation.Pete&Matt wrote:their kits looks very good value for money compared to the Omex systems! Re: Engine Management

This might be worth a look http://www.nodiz.co.uk/
I'm not 100% but I think it's megasquirt based and sounds like exactly what you need. No EDIS necessary either!
I have no personal experience of it mind

Re: Engine Management
I am going to chat to trigger wheels today and see if i can use the mega squirt kit as it does the injection side of things aswell, which i may well need later on once the car is on the road.

Re: Engine Management
i e-mailed him in the end and he came back very quickly.
He will most likely have a sale shortly! The Megajolt kits seem extremely good value for money in comparison to other manufacturers, especially Omex!
Thanks for your help and to Chris too if he is reading this.

Are there instructions or do they assume you're an electronics nerd
