Value?
Value?
As much as it will break my heart it looks like I'm not going to be able to take the Stylus back home to Australia. It's been over 16yrs and been a lot of fun but I'm going to have to move it on. So what is the market like at the moment? I'm sure its not as good as I would like. Evenso, can anyone hazard a guess at an approximate value?
The car is a JP chassis, classic style with windscreen .
225bhp 2ltr blacktop zetec,gsxr1000 TBs, Ultimate Performance cnc'd head with largest valves poss., accralite forged pistons ,farndon steel rods, std crank, raceline steel f'wheel and water rail, brise starter motor, alloy b'housing, bgh heavey duty g'box(long 1st),quaife ATB diff, hi spec ultra lite 4 pot calipers, alloy hubs, quick rack steering column,14" minilites with r888's.
spartan interior
I know this already looks like an 'for sale' thread but just after a starting point, I'm quite prepared to store it after I've left so not going to put a low price on it for a quick sale.
Thanks Mike

Re: Value?
It's very painful to accept but our cars never make what we spent developing them . I think I'd carefully list all the spec , including suspension set-up , photos of polished car etc THEN go for a price tag of £9500 at that spec Mike . The problem being that some really high spec and well built cars sell for £8000 to £10000 that have cost £25000 ------ Andy B's for one
There'll always be a buyer at some low price but it's finding that one enthusiast who can't be arsed to build one ------ pistonheads finds a large audience

Re: Value?
Hi Mike, so sorry for this ridiculously late reply , but I had a hard disk failure a while ago and lost track of virtually everything. I am still looking for a Stylus and live near Worthing, so just down the road from you. I expect a lot has changed, but in the unlikely event that you still have the car, and are looking to sell, please let me know. We are in sunny Spain until the end of Feb, but could view after that. Kind regards, Paul.

Re: Value?
With none being made since 2006/7 , Stylus's are getting like '' hens teeth '' or at least , good one's. Paul should have kept that very nicely put together V8

I think so. Well I'm not sure! It's loads of fun, but woman isn't keen and I don't use it a huge amount for various reasons that aren't the cars fault, so it'll probably be up for sale in the spring.
But then I take it out, a 20 minute spin turns into a 2 hour blat across the countryside and I change my mind. Watch this space!

Things like Elises look good value these days, and they're not too expensive to run or hugely difficult to work on.

Well --- apart from head gasket failures on those that haven't had their thermostats moved to the water exit rather than entryDH2 wrote:Tough decision, good luck with it.Craig-Chap wrote:I think so. Most of the K-series cars are old enough for that to be sorted by now.stylussprinter wrote:Well --- apart from head gasket failures on those that haven't had their thermostats moved to the water exit rather than entry
Re: Value?
Most difficult to work on car I've ever had as virtually everything is inaccessible. Not a bad drive though.DH2 wrote: Things like Elises look good value these days, and they're not too expensive to run or hugely difficult to work on.
