I need a replacement windscreen. My insurance Co have organised for Auto glass to carry the work out.
I have asked for a heated one, which they couldn't get. So I pointed them to heated windscreens. Com.
So they need to know which model - S2, S3, S4. Apparently they are all different.?
Question 1, which model.
Question 2, what/where/how are the electrical terminations?
Thanks Kevin

Re: Heated windscreen
Mine is S2 but no idea about heated screens. If someone else is fitting it , don't forget to jam a couple of pieces of wood between screen and rear body or seats --- otherwise the empty fibreglass frame will mis-shape under pressure Also the only rubbers that do the job properly are Transit rubbers and 2 are needed. All others are a bit iffy .
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Re: Heated windscreen
Thanks.
I have ordered (requested) the S2 unit. Dave thanks for the link re wiring diagram, I did see that but I was after how the heating elements/cold tails exit the screen. Is it something I need to connect to now or can I do it later?
New problem. The screen wont be hear until next week. I am racing at Snetterton on sunday (25 May). I know I dont need a screen, but I will need an aero screen.
Need pointers quick.
Thanks Kevin

Re: Heated windscreen
Came across this on clubstlus site in build manual in mentions the S3
Windscreen
When cutting out the windscreen aperture leave a mounting area approx 20mm wide around the screen, (most moulds have a faint line in the gel coat).
If your car is going to be painted; this needs to be done before the windscreen is fitted to the car.
The windscreen is as fitted to the original Lotus Elan S3 [Part No. - HT 265LC (Elan S2-S4 66/73)]. The glass is bonded onto the windscreen frame with no rubber surround. To finish the edges two Ford Transit window surround rubbers are required. Alternatively the glass supplier/fitter will usually have a universal trim which is also suitable. The 'stem' of the rubber surround in either case needs to be removed so that it will sit on top of the bonded in window. The trim is fixed in place with the same material used to bond the screen to the frame. Lower edges of the rubber surround need to be mitre cut to follow the screen.
Note: If you change the C in the code to T, this gives the code for the green tinted screen

Re: Heated windscreen
To me that looks confusing S3, S2 and S4 all mentioned in one place. I dont know what the answer is.hearbear wrote:Came across this on clubstylus site in build manual in mentions the S3

Also be aware that the screen may need to be shaped slightly to get it to fit. They grinded a bit off to get it in the Fury. Stylus might be a better shape. I got a local place to do it, they came out and did all the work (i cut the original out) for £50 or £60.
Re: Heated windscreen
I am not sure about the differences between the S1 - S4 versions. But my Stylus is the same age as Robs, so I have followed his spec
Matt has put me in contact with his aero screen provider - Puffin Plastics, Petersfield. I phoned them up & they already had 1 cut out for me to collect, (assume Matt had already advised them?). Anyway 1 of my staff finished work early today, so i got him to remove the damaged windscreen & fit the new aero one in. Which he has done & the main screen frame is still intact (looks naff though).
