I've messed up again......
2004 SSC Stylus for sale. We only just bought it.....and went off to Spain for 6 months. Then we were offered a place in France that we couldn't refuse, and probably won't be back for a year or more. It is not sensible to leave a 1000 mile car unused for over a year. It is being started, checked and moved regularly at the moment, but my friend will not want to do this for ever. This is a beautiful example. Anyone interested before it goes on ebay? If so, please send a private message. Cheers.

Just wish we could register it in France. As I understand it, you have to register a car in France once it has been there for over 6 months, but they don't allow kit cars ....

There must be a way around it Paul because I've supplied antirollbars to kit car owners in France plus others in EUROPE , so have seen their photos (FURYS , STRIKERS also PHOENIX) Werner will probably know what's needed , you could PM him.madmaninshed wrote:Just wish we could register it in France. I'll contact him and see if there is a way round it. Many thanks.
Re: I've messed up again......
I think the date of first registration matters to what you can and cant register (I'm not an expert and only going on what I heard)
Failing that sounds like an excuse for a UK road trip ever 5 months and 30 days

Re: I've messed up again......
The trouble is that we already have to make a dash back to MOT the van, and will soon have to do the same with the bike in the back of it, when it is 3 years old. I am reading that registering a car in Spain is quite involved, and they suggest the use of a company that specializes in doing so. I will contact one of those companies to see what the rules are. Cheers.

Re: I've messed up again......
Try and look into it. I know that MikeB that was on here sold his car it a guy in the Alps.
I think it may depend on the year of registration. But the french laws may have changed too.
It may come down to a local level thing, I have heard its always good to keep the mayor on-side.
When touring the french love to see the car and theres always an interest shown from all (unlike Italy where they ignore you)
so you might have some hope.
Make some enquiries at local level and see how it goes. It be a shame not to have that car on those road.
Maybe ask on pistonheads kit car forum or locostbuilders

Re: I've messed up again......
I have a friend that moved to France some 8 odd years ago.
His car is still on UK plates. Insured in France. Only need an MOT every 5 years!
He has no UK address.

Re: I've messed up again......
Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I made enquiries both in France and Spain, and it all got complicated and uncertain. The sale of our Stylus has been agreed to a very enthusiastic new owner, and we hope in a year or so to have a new project, when we have a more permanent home in France with a garage. It would be great to build a new Stylus with IRS which would only have to come over to the UK after 3 years for the MOT, and could be driven back periodically to the UK to avoid re-registering it. Cheers, Paul.
