My stylus has been off the road for 6 years and in that time I have carried out MANY modifications which include alloy front hubs (+10mm) with larger bearings from Peter Lloyd Rallying.
I think this one: http://www.peterlloydrallying.co.uk/ind ... uct_id=610
Anyway, since fitting these, I now get pad knock off when turning on full lock, so if I do a 3 point turn, I have to fully depress the brake pedal twice just to get the brakes back.
It took me a while to realise this was the issue, so whilst fault finding I:
Fitted a new master cylinder with brand new seals, fitted new rear pistons to shoes, flushed all the fluid many times(!), stripped and rebuilt front 4 pot calipers, added a bias valve to rear circuit, add a 10psi residual pressure valve to rear line and 2x 2psi valves to front lines, fitted new front pads, checked front discs for run out etc etc.
Having located the issue to the front hubs, I thought I'd welly them up (to the point the hubs would no longer rotate without a bar on them!) and then back them off again, this gave no improvement, so I tried again but leaving the hubs tighter (too tight for driving on) and still it happens.
Anyone else had this issue? My last resort is to go back to stnd front hubs. When I phoned Peter, he was less than helpful to say the least - couldn't wait to get me off the phone, just said that he'd never heard of that problem before!
Currently crying into my tea as I was getting Norma ready for Classic Le Mans next week and it looks like she'll not be coming with me (Norma is my Stylus btw not my mrs!)
Thanks

Re: strange issue with pad knock-off
Sounds a very comprehenive fault analysis
Do the uprated O.D bearings match the stub axle I.D ?
Changed the front hoses over ? pretty sure you would have spotted a minor air/fluid leak after stretching, splitting or something when changing the front end. ??
Think I'd swap back to the old setup & see if it still happens. If not... off to LM.
Blatant thread hijack....
Just got back from Le Mans & further south myself. 1200 miles of pure fun.
Suggest you get an autotag for the tolls if going that way, just roll up to the barrier & up it goes. https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/how-does-it-work
Saves on unbuckling harnesses, helmet on & off, buckling back up (& in my case inept Spouse who cant find ticket she had 10mins ago, or change, or reach the coin slot)....
Maybe not so much fun.... Had a 330mile slog back to ferry on Saturday, left late so no time for coffee stops - Sat on 90/100 most of the way, stopping every 125 miles for fuel, and then running into Le Havre for the last 30 miles with the fuel gauge on empty. Last two cars thru the gate & straight onto the boat
I knew my tank has about 3/4 gallon of reserve on "empty", but difficult to judge when on the move & its sloshing about.
Put my gallon spare into the tank & the gauge didnt even move

Re: strange issue with pad knock-off
Are you certain the disc is properly seated on the hub ie. cleaned surface and torqued up evenly Although just turning it round while watching the pads should prove that one way or the other .
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Re: strange issue with pad knock-off
Pad knock off is usually found when on track high speed cornering. If you are suffering at low speed then something is moving relatively easy. Maybe a flexible brake line too short putting pressure on calliper.
