We have got our door catches (2 stage type) and they have come with some long cap head bolts. Am i right in thinking that these are for the "pin" that is bolted into the body that the catch latches onto?
They seem to be a loose fit in the claw on the catch though. Anyone elses like this too?

Re: Door Catches
Put a photo up here of the bolts/catch . When building mine , I had to use a long bolt/two nuts/large washers , to clamp tight through the f/glass. First having cut most of the head off the bolt leaving just 2 or 3 mm deep and filed down.(so it would clear the catch)Pete&Matt wrote:We have got our door catches (2 stage type) and they have come with some long cap head bolts. the latch pins will be a loose fit in the claw as i can make out. first reason being if your door isn't exactly in line it will not close if they are a snug fit and the claw may not close fully, also it allows for the door to be pushed out slightly by the rubber weather seal causing a good seal. mine are a loose fit and they seem to work fine!
maybe yours are different to mine but if it was supplied as a kit i'm sure they are fine!
as for bolting through the fibreglass? first get the doors installed and the pins. i used some flat steel thisk enough to cut a thread in to spread the weight in the rear arch, then for the bit on show on the other side i put a bit of stainless plate to spread the load over the fibreglass. looks quite good too when you open the door. once you.ve got the doors set up and adjusted, the metal plate under the arch can be bonded into place.
hope this helps. if this isn't too clear, let me know and i'll try to help some more!
