If you want something doing DO IT YOURSELF
Hey Phil
I've get a pair of spring compressors that you are welcome to borrow if you need, just let me know.
(Same goes to anyone else who is local to Bristol)
Have measured my front shocks (they are not marked as Rob indicated - Protech).
The fronts are 12" and therefore I think with the 7" spring(I know Rob says should be 8") I think that will mean the spring platform will be in the middle of it's adjustment and so ideal for corner weight tweaking later.
I do not know what the rears are as I only have one set of axle stands and not room to jack up the rear and take a unit off at the moment.
It is just a shame that I have got to the end of the build and only now looking into this sort of detail - it is not really what I expected as it should have been in a good state, I bought the car from Pete as a new rolling chassis.
Update - springs are changed over but I did not get a chance to set the heights.
The new springs are ideal sizes for the shocks and it turns out that the shocks are 12" on the front and 13" on the back; Ally that with 7" springs on the front and 8" rear, then I have got room to play with for adjusting the heights and getting the corner weights done (at some stage).
I owe Pete an apology re: the spring ratings as it turns out the originals fitted were 225 front and 180 on the rear - still a bit light for me and the fronts were too long, but I could have saved the cost of one pair of springs. The rears were marked 180, but they were very soft in comparison to the 200 I had so would doubt they were really 180s.
The car is ready for adjusting then finding an SVA centre, I have been warned off the Newcastle one in favour of Carlisle - we shall see.
At least the car is now not pointing into space, the rear is not higher than the front. The only measurements I had time to check was the front clearance, which is now 155mm and the height of the front indicators that are now exactly 350mm to their centre.
