I've decided to sell my little beauty. I've got mixed emotions because as much as I love to drive it I want to try my hand at building something and unfortunately I can't afford both at once

My Stylus is up for sale
Re: My Stylus is up for sale
Have you considered keeping it and modifying it? put a more powerful engine in it, decent brakes etc. Then you don't have to worry about SVA, you get to play and i don't think you will find a better car out there in terms of a practical kit car unless you spend 20k plus. Any Seven type car may look nice but the wind buffeting is a little extreme for me due to the flat or non existent windscreen, even on a track car, as i find cant concentrate as well with all the wind noise and my head feeling like some is violently shaking it from side to side.
just food for thought if you have trouble selling.

Tony is right, thats why i haven't sold mine, Matt talked sense it'll cost at least 6-7k to build something else, so why not lavish your car with engine/gearbox what ever takes your fancy, you must admit they do look good.
Must try harder
Re: My Stylus is up for sale
You could convert it to an RT (?) if you want to change the look. I agree with the previous replys. To get a "better" kit car will take quite a few ££££. Also you will miss next seasons (& possably a few more besides) driving.

Re: My Stylus is up for sale
Have to agree but of course if you've never built a kit yourself you wont know how it goes i.e. Plan cost/doesn't work ----- plan build time/doesn't work ---- etc . Building , unless you've already done one , is a very big learning curve .Having said that I enjoyed building mine BUT hardly any plan stayed as was £ or design wise. Unless you really hate the body/chassis of your Stylus THEN upgrading thoroughly will be cheaper , quicker and produce a better performing car , handling and grunt wise , than you could afford if you built from scratch .
We are biased of course but then we've all built from scratch apart from Tony and he's achieved an awesome result but with the benefit of a rediculously low 2nd hand kit price to start with aye Tony

I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Re: My Stylus is up for sale
Well yes she was cheap, which is why i ended up with her, I'd never heard of a stylus and she was in a bad way. I was looking for a part built 7 or one in need of a rebuild but i'm glad i went the way i did, its nice to be different and everybody comes up to me and says 'what is it' closely followed by 'what's in it'? closely followed by 'what's a rotary engine'?
Building a kit car can be a bit of a shock to the system which is why there are so many part builds out there. Unless you go and pay £13k or similar for a westfield which looks like a mechano kit that just bolts together with only a little bit of drilling required compared to a lot of kits.
But on the other hand its very satisfying driving a car that you built from scratch

Re: My Stylus is up for sale
Thanks for the messages of support, advice and experience!
There are a few other circumstances, such as having to keep the car on a driveway instead of garage, hopefully moving into my own place etc. that are swaying my decision to sell.
Who knows, if it hasn't sold by spring I'll probably do just that, spend a few £k upgrading the engine and interior... We'll see!

hey dave
she made it all of the 357 miles home to somerset, without a blip so im proper happy with her got a pair of twin 40s and a new exhaust to fitt and ive ripped the interior apart to the extent theres no dash anymore. so a set of dials have been ordered and a dash design submitted to the project not sure what colour to spray her yet depends on the dollors left. cheers then i will update you when all done
